My office computer crashed last week, so now I have to set things up again. First, how do I make google my default search engine? On older systems, ISTR there was a button somewhere that said ‘Make google my default search engine.’ I don’t see that in the browser I’m using on the new system. (Remember when Microsoft would tell you what system you’re using, just by clicking on the Start button? Now they hide it, so I can’t tell you what the system is.)

The other thing is that I _finally_ got logged in. I want to get more than 10 results per page. I used to be able to go to Settings (or something) and choose up to 100 results. Now that’s gone. How do I get more results?

Finally, there’s another search engine that looks like google, but they supposedly don’t collect personal information. Anyone know what that is, and how to do the things I want to do above?

Link specifically tells how to switch default search engine from Bing to Google, but the same instructions can be followed to change to anything else.

How to change your default search engine depends on what browser you are using. Edge, which comes with Windows 10, Chrome, or Firefox? Those are the most popular ones.

The search engine you are looking for is probably [Duck Duck Go](https://duckduckgo.com/)

There is no gear menu. I don’t know what version of IE I’m using, as there is no ‘About’ button. If I right-click on the icon on my taskbar, it has a thing that says ‘Microsoft Edge’.

Windows 10 sounds familiar, and I usually use IE. (I do also have Chrome, but there are job-related reasons I don’t use it that much.)

That’s the one. Geez, all I want is to get 100 results. Why does Microsoft have to make thinks more difficult and slower?

ETA: If you haven’t noticed, I’m a little angry.

That worked. Thanks!

Switching to DuckDuckGo solved the number-of-results issue. I’ve set it up as my default search engine.
