Very easy, I think.
A while back, someone started a thread about “Show me where you live,” with a link to Googlemap. Quite a few folks not only made it easy for Stalkerman to find him, they also provided a map.
Quite helpful, we Dopers.
I’ve posted the City where I live, and it’s the type of place where everybody knows everything about everybody who lives here. Five minutes will probably get you my workplace and home information.
That’s because wading through the chickens is too difficult.
I’ve wondered this myself and was going to start a similar thread (it was in my mental que of threads to start).
I think it would be pretty easy to track me down.
In fact, let’s have a challenge.
The first person to identify me by;
First Name,
Last Name,
Place of employment (name and address of)
home adress (or at least circle the home on a Sat image)
Wins a bottle of my Home-made wine of their choice (Raspberry, Pear, Grape (concord), Watermelon, Rhubarb, Mixed fruit (grape, raspberry, pear), Apple (six months out yet, just started it), and a new batch of Respberry/Cherry (mixed in the fermentor, not afterwards like the mixed fruit was, also, six months out).
All fruits except the watermelon and cherries were grown in my backyard.
Rules;
Submit guesses via the E-mail link.
You may announce in a post that you have made a guess (via e-mail).
I will then announce in a post who has guessed and if you’re wrong I will tell you which bit of info you have screwed up.
The winner will be the first person to guess all four correctly.
I will pay for shipping and all that jazz.
Hopefully shipping homemade wine is legal!
I will be gone most of the weekend, so don’t assume that a lack of response on my part is an indication of a wrong guess, or misdirected e-mail.
Remember, guesses via e-mail only, don’t want to make it too easy!
I’ve never given out my full name on this board, but I don’t think it would be that hard.
I’ve never given out my name on this board, but I do chime in on threads about my state. I also frequently allude to where I work and someone could easily figure out where at this organization my office is located, I think. They’d just have to find the threads that make it somewhat clear and be familiar with the city. I have also stated the name of the small town where I live. I give my child an SD nickname based on his school year. But, I’ve never said the name of my employer outright or described myself or my car or home. So, it’s a toss up.
Given my occupation and the sorts of interests that I’ve detailed here previously I’d say someone could track me down very quickly.
Piece of cake, in my case. Any of us that live in a really small town; have at one time or another posted the town’s name, and have also posted a picture in one of the pic threads can be found with ease.
Just print the picture, go to any place of business and get name address, directions, etc in one stop.
If you come to my town with a picture, you’ll get; “Oh, HIM! That’s the guy that can’t spell. They let him name the road he lives on, and you know what? He meant Riverdale or somethin’ like that, but he spelled it R-i-v-e-n-d-e-l-l and when they told him he’d spelled it wrong, he just said something about ‘The Last Homely House’ and insisted they leave the spelling alone. Weirdo!
Oh, yeah, it’s two miles down that empty dirt road, and when you get there, watch out for the two killer Chihuahuas.”
It’s been a good week here. Tuesday, for the first time in 30 years, I got bucked off a horse. New horse, I gotta’ learn his ways. No harm, no foul.
Then today, my 15-year-old granddaughter got bucked off a different horse. She landed on her ass and complained that her butt will be bruised. I asked what’s the problem, because who would see it?, and she just smirked. Her boyfriend’s named J.R: Surely not…
C’mon over! I’ve got a good supply of red whiskey, a little moonshine, and plenty of meat in the freezer.
If you want horse-piss to drink, I’ve got plenty of natural horse piss or you can bring your own beer.
I would be easy to find. I have a website under my screen name, and that could be traced to my real name, which is rare enough to allow me to be located pretty easily.
I too am armed and dangerous, and, more importantly I have an egregiously nasty civil lawyer to plague you into bankruptcy just for grins. (Nasty man. I don’t really know why I like him.)(But I do!)
Tris
Now that I think about it, I’d probably be easy to find. The city I live in is under “Location” and I’m part of a Doper social group here (something happened to Anastasaeon? I didn’t do it!). And although I haven’t disclosed my workplace or (I think) my home neighborhood, I may have given hints without meaning to.
I have also shared many potentially identifying details about my earlier life: where I was born and when, all the places I’ve lived, universities I’ve gone to, etc. I enjoy getting nostalgic when I post: about my hometown, high school, what was popular the year I graduated, college, and so on. Surely some ill-disguised reminiscence would reveal my identity to a dedicated agent, or even a good guesser.
I think – though I don’t feel like finding that thread to confirm – the links were just to city/state, not specific street addresses. The reason I think this is because I remember participating in that thread, but I can’t imagine that I would have done so if it meant making my street address public.
