Beyond this point, drop any reference about past topics made by the OP. It has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Use the Pit for it if you wish, but drop the hijacks now.

> They screwed up. They created a Mega that doesn’t need a stone – so he can Mega-evolve AND carry an item like Life Orb, which boosts his Attack even further. The combination is, as you suggest, so powerful it basically walks over even the most powerful counters. Life Orb Rayquaza smashes everything that isn’t Fairy to pieces, and running V-create he can put a serious hurt on even a Fairy – neutral damage from a 180 base power attack is crazy. And if he gets one turn to set up Swords Dance, then forget about it: he can reliably one-hit or two-hit KO anything in the game.
>
> It’s a shame – I like Rayquaza, but he’s so powerful he’s useless in battle. (This may seem paradoxical to casual readers, but a moment’s thought will reveal that any game that has a single reliable winning strategy for anyone who uses it becomes useless. I alluded above to Pokemon battles being like giant games of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Mega Rayquaza adds Atomic Blaster to the game, and Atomic Blaster beats Rock, Paper, and Scissors every time. Boring game now, isn’t it?)

This is why they need to restrict it from tournament play. That no-stone thing is killer. My team will always consist of generation 1 Pokemon that are hilarious. Psyduck, Snorlax, and Jigglypuff. If I can’t beat you, I’ll make you laugh yourself to death. All hail to the Helix!

The majority of legendaries are restricted from sanctioned Nintendo play already. Rayquaza has been restricted from the Smogon “Ubers” tier.

And Supergirl avoids the age-old SDMB slapfight - rather than positing that ‘they’ have another \*think \*coming, \*or \*another \*thing \*coming, they have another \*guess \*coming.

She couldn’t care less about cliched sayings.

>
> When I grew up my parents thought cartoons were only for kids and then only for Saturday morning and video games pretty much the same. When I babysit my brothers kids were watching cartoons and playing video games because we all enjoy those things…

Good point. My mother just doesn’t “get” the idea of adults playing video games or the concept of an adult-oriented video game. She knows that this stuff happens, but she really seems to see it as a stupid idea. And that makes sense given that when she was a little girl, video games just weren’t a thing, and barely even existed outside of a lab. Card games? Sure. Board games, bike riding, field sports? Yeah. She grew up with those things, and still sees them as fine for adults. Video games were something that became popular only after she had become an adult, and were initially considered kids stuff anyway so she more or less never started playing.

Huge numbers of Generation X adults still play video games, because they more or less have always played video games, just like our parents have always played tag football in the park or Monopoly at the kitchen table.

Isn’t the stereotype that nearly all Star Trek pornfics are written by females? This especially applies to the K/S stuff that used to be popular (and maybe still is).

There’s a key factor the last few posts have forgotten. It’s sexuality.

There is zero creepiness factor in watching a well made kids movie and admiring it. Pixar has made billions from that. I don’t even have kid and I love those movies. There’s also zero creepines in an adult loving a kid’s video or card game. Pokemon is brought up a lot here, and that shit’s got _a lot_ of strategy. I fully believe that Pokemon gave birth to Magic: the Gathering. The problem isn’t the medium itself, it’s the intent.

The problem comes when you _sexualize_ it.

Er, Magic predates Pokemon by a couple years. But you make an excellent point otherwise.

To add more to this, sexualizing children’s entertainment effectively takes it away from children. It seems like everyone is obsessed with the idea of “fandom” these days, but by taking your creepy zoophilic sex fantasies and applying them to a children’s show, you’re inherently making that “fandom” an inappropriate space for children. A child does not need to be exposed to your age-inappropriate, probably-banned-in-many-states amateur pornography, because it is not for a young audience.

The thing with adult males latching onto My Little Pony is even more troublesome, as it takes one of very few ‘wholesome’\*, age-tailored shows which is clearly aimed at young girls. It’s not aimed at a mixed audience like Recess or Rugrats or Animaniacs were. It’s not aimed at a male audience, like most action cartoons are (I’m not saying that girls don’t _like_ action cartoons. I know they do. I’m saying that from a marketing perspective they are not the prime target audience). It’s meant to be, basically, an entertainment safe space for girls.

And then come the manchild perverts, and they start to erode away at that safe space.

\*I’ve never seen the show, because I am an adult, but from what I’ve heard it’s much more about “be nice to each other” and “be true to yourself” than “dress like a princess!!1” and “dress like this to attract boys!”.

Doesn’t require belief of any kind, just look it up yourself.

Pokemon started out as a pair of video games and became a collectible card game in [October of 1996](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Trading_Card_Game).

[M:TG](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic:_The_Gathering)hit the scene in August '93.

I’ve seen most MLP episodes, and it’s generally an upbeat and enjoyable show, it was written for both adults and children.

Clopfic is weird, but it’s no worse than horror fanfic. “Cupcakes” is well-written but disgusting.

Her nostrils tickled from the sugary fragrance, and instantly her tongue darted through her teeth, lapping up the edges of Scootaloo’s mouth, inhaling the pent-up breaths that filtered out of her tiny lungs in every other squeak. The pain was gone from Rainbow’s wing. The fuzziness spread, tingling down Rainbow’s spine.

Personally, I believe in living and letting live. I don’t think you should be _embarrassed_ about your hobby - but there’s some area between “endless shame” and “posting it all over Facebook.” However, I try not to judge. Everyone has their quirks; some are just more open about them than others.

With that said.

Okay, I realize this is an odd thread to post my first post in, but I’ve wanted to join this board for a while and this is the only active thread I see where I have something to say that’s different from what other people have already said in the thread. I don’t want to repeat what others have said and I also don’t know yet how many days count as bumping a zombie thread at this board.

You shouldn’t be embarrassed. As long as you’re not hurting anyone by drawing or partaking in your fantasies, there’s nothing wrong with it. I wouldn’t go around telling everybody though. It could hurt your career and/or family relationships.

They’re not real ponies and they don’t even act or truly look like ponies, so I don’t see how it could be bestiality. Nor do I see how it could be pedophilia either.

The only part of the female body that’s really for sex is the vaginal area. Breasts are for the baby. They’re for an infant, yet they’re sexualized. I don’t think it’s bad for anyone to be attracted to the look of them or to have any lactation fantasies about them though.

> [@](#):

I know they do. I’m saying that from a marketing perspective they are not the prime target audience). It’s meant to be, basically, an entertainment safe space for girls.

But how many kids are coming across My Little Pony porn accidentally? I used to be obsessed with Family Guy and looked up lots of stuff about it when I was younger, yet I’ve never seen any porn or fanfics of it. I’ve heard it exists though.

Not all My Little Pony fans are sexually attracted to any of the characters, so the fandom isn’t filled with My Little Pony porn. It’s just like any other fandom. I’m sure the porn of it is easy to find if you’re looking for it though.

When it comes to things you like, it shouldn’t matter whether something is aimed at your demographic or not, just whether you like it. If you don’t like something just because it’s not marketed to you, then I wouldn’t say you don’t like it, just that you have no interest in seeing if you like it.

I like lots of things targeted to kids and I’ve always liked horror movies, even when I was a kid and not the target audience.

I’ve seen a couple episodes of the show and it’s not my cup of tea, but I’m fine with people liking it. I’m fine with people being attracted to porn of it too. I don’t get it, but I’m attracted to some weird things too and a lot of people are. I mean, what’s up with people putting their dicks in a hole where feces is? I don’t see what’s sexy about it and dicks have a hole in them so it’s not completely sanitary. The hole is too small to clean inside of it very well.

Me, I’m for people writing erotic fanfiction or drawing Rule-34 of whatever they want to do so about, and that includes children’s lit and cartoons, ad campaigns, major book and movie franchises, Bible stories, prophets other of major world religions, operating systems, Royalty, Hollywood celebs, members of the Congress, Cameron/Miliband slashfic; let a thousand flowers bloom, whatever floats your boat, don’t try this at home, closed course professional driver, consult doctor, don’t scare the horses, etc.

I am also a strong believer that you have to think three times about what could possibly go wrong worst-case-scenario with sharing something on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/etc. under your recognizable identity and still default to “no”.

In this age of fluid privacy, we need to remind ourselves that not everything has to be “out there” for the whole world – which Social Media is regardless of privacy settings – and it’s not a matter of if it’s good or evil, it’s just that there’s a public and a private realms. Your mother and your employer and the folks at the bridge club do not need to know that you like it inverted-rear entry; it’s not something that’s wrong for you as an adult but why should they read about it on the newsfeed. Same applies to many other things; if it’s going to take ten times 140 characters to even begin to explain, better not make it necessary.

IMO it is an extension of protection of privacy to have an online presence that is separate from your “general audiences” one; call it a “secret identity”, an alter ego that you only use in some scenarios – if you will, the Ritual Name that you only share with the fellow initiates. It is a way to be able to play safe, sort of being in-character as someone else and not having to uphold the image all the time. And frankly keeping those separate silos helps keep Judgy McJudgingson from interfering with your normal life.

One thing I’ve noticed in 35 years of contact with various geek groups is how you can have people who will be into all sort of “alternative ways” proudly disregarding what Mr. and Mrs. Suburbia thinks, and then someone comes along who’s into one other different one and it’s Jesus Pass The Smelling Salts, “OMG they’ll think we are all like that”.

> Me, I’m for people writing erotic fanfiction or drawing Rule-34 of whatever they want to do…

I disagree. A line has to be drawn someplace. I don’t think our OP crosses that line, but he’s in spitting distance.

Subject matters. “Rule 34” is a joke, and it’s a pretty funny one. But what it isn’t, is an excuse. If somebody were to write porn about, say, raping elderly women, you sure as hell wouldn’t be invoking “rule 34”. No elderly women were harmed by the mere act of writing porn about it, but it’s still not O.K. Writing porn about shit that is very much wrong can’t be excused just because there is other porn about stuff that is very, very weird. Weird is fine, but there has to be a line where it becomes just wrong and recognized as predatory ideations.

Again, I don’t think **Budget Player Cadet** quite crosses that line, but I am not willing to excuse predatory sexual fantasies in the name of “Rule 34”.
