I went [here](http://www.typingtest.com/) and scored 73 words a minute the first time through with 100% accuracy. I did the test again which had the same test and scored 79 with 98% accuracy. I just typed how I normally do. So I type somewhere near the 73-79 mark depending on familiarity with the subject. Not too bad. I know a lot of people who type better and faster. But my scores mean I type faster than my secretary. 🙂 Now where is that gloating smiley. Oh yeah 😃

66 wpm first time out, no mistakes. That doesn’t seem right to me somehow…in my high school typing class I thought I was typing pretty fast, but I never scored above 55 wpm. My mom, a former legal secretary, used to type at above 100 wpm, and that was considered more than exceptional–I find it hard to believe that more than 50 out of the 3900-odd who took the test scored that high (unless legal secretaries are jumping in to skew the results).

I have never learned touch typing, and use a sort of modified five-finger typing method (using index finger and thumb on my left hand, and middle, index, and thumb on my right).

It is amazing how much one improves every time they take the same test. I am at 88 now (100% accuracy). I think my normal typing is around the 73 WPM mark though because that shows how fast one would type normally without any extras added in.
And Ino, that is one impressive speed record you have going there. Where did you learn to type?

65 WPM, with 85% accuracy. Of course, I am actually faster if I am typing from my head, not from something written on a screen or book. I look at the keyboard when I type, not so much because I have to as just as a secutity measure for myself. I have always looked at the keyboard when typing, and to not do so feels weird. So when I type from something written, I have to look at the screen, memorize a few words from the passage, then look back to the keyboard to type them out.

86 WPM, with 97% accuracy. That’s what MUD gaming will do for you. And, to my credit, I have a mild case of cerebral palsy, which affects my right hand (hey, I did say mild :)) but I’ve been on the internet for about 9 years, so I can type fast – though I can only do an advanced pecking with my right hand. ☹

I have to look at the keyboard when I type, so I scored a measly 56 wpm. My roommate came in here wondering why here was hearing bursts of typing like a machine gun, when i would type out a few words and then look up to see what was next. 🙂

52 WPM…of course I am much faster when I’m looking at the output of what I’m typing and not a some text to copy. I have no need to be a transcriptionist. I just type as I think usually.

I’m so glad you posted this.
I’ve lost a couple of secretarial jobs because my typing speed wasn’t fast enough. I don’t think that’s fair, because I am good at creating great looking documents and spreadsheets, slideshows, etc., but they have strict typing speed minimums just as though typing pools were still the slave-driving norm.
