# How forested is your neighborhood?

I’m in an inner-ring suburb, so I’m far from being “in the woods”. My neighborhood has trees on most streets, and I can see some out my windows. The nearest small park is about 4 blocks away, with a couple of fairly large parks about a mile away. The closest area that can be called a proper “forest” is a part of Cleveland’s “emerald necklace” of Metroparks, about two miles away.
Aside: Remember all those woodlands that Calvin and Hobbes were always exploring? Those were probably all part of Cleveland’s Metroparks, and Watterson’s depiction of them was fairly accurate.

Checking Google maps walking out my door almost due north I suspect I could go 90-100 miles in 90% in forested area. A few fields, ponds and cleared area’s here and there, the occasional house but pretty much re-forested northern New England.
The exact heading is important. Veer slightly left or right and I would hit one of two settlements one about 9 miles away and the other about 30 miles away. But there is that sweet spot right between the two right up to the Quebec border.

North shore of New Orleans is pretty woodsy. Lots of pine trees.
