# How Globally Represented Is The SDMB?

Might also be that English is not the _lingua franca_ in those regions that it is elsewhere. IIRC, when people in Eastern Europe know an “international” language, it’s more likely to be German.

I believe **Martha** is in the Dominican Republic, and she’s actually not the only Doper who lives there.

I know that French used to be the most popular international language taught in Romania, but I believe it’s been replaced with English. If Germany used to be the most commonly taught international language in Eastern Europe, it must have been some time ago.

Google provides this data in an easily downloadable format. Certainly it doesn’t violate the privacy policy to just post a list of the represented countries…
