Trump said that “billions” of federal dollars have been spent on fighting fires in California, and it’s all due to the corruption in the state and the failure of the state to get rid of dead trees. Truth: The federal government has spent about $1.4 billion the past two years, of which $900 million went to states, localities, and individuals to fight fires and repair damages caused by fires. $771 million was spent on fighting fires _in national forests_, whose maintenance and upkeep are the responsibility of the federal government. The federal government spent a total of $2.9 billion fighting fires _across the entire country_ in 2017. This pales in comparison to emergency funds spent on flooding and hurricane relief. The federal government, through the Forest Service, controls more than 20 million acres of forest property, about one-fifth of the state’s total land mass. I found [this website](https://trumpgolfcount.com/) today which keeps tally of Trump’s personal trips to play golf. It presently stands at 149 in two years, at an estimated cost to taxpayers of about $79,000,000. Now you may say “Yeahbut, Obama played a lot of golf!” Yes he did, to the tune of 306 times in eight years. At Trump’s present rate, he will likely exceed that in his four year term. Additionally, most of Obama’s golfing was done at government facilities, whereas Trump’s golfing has been 100% at private clubs, mostly ones that he owns, and has visited them an average of once every 4.3 days. ---

Here’s what scares me. For any other president in history, one could easily tell the jokes about the president’s knowledge and ability are just that, jokes. The Department of Health and Human Services wants to legally define gender as what you were born with, not what you identify as, or how you currently present.
