Support for Trump or any Republican is a matter of moral character, not intelligence. You don’t have to be smart to oppose putting children in internment camps, just decent. I know little about large-scale global economics, but I’m pretty confident in my belief that whatever qualifies one to negotiate such agreements, being a game show host with no experience in government whatsoever isn’t it. ---

Yeah, but did he piss someone off every single day? But I think I’ve got it: William Henry Harrison. He was only president for 30 days, and he spent the last 10 days of it dying of typhoid fever. I think it’s unlikely that anyone was pissed with him for those last few days. ---

Washington had to get around by horse, carriage or foot (never heard of him being carried on a litter). Surely there were days long stretches of simply travel, in which he didn’t do much besides appear large and presidential, but only to the closest observers. ---

It all depends - by most accounts (and wandering dick aside) Schwarzie did all right as a governor, in spite of his primary experience consisting in repeatedly lifting heavy things. Meh. Alabama was just visited by disaster, and already had more than a fair share of problems. If Trump’s visit can make them feel better/more included, I will give him credit for it. What Fox says or would say? Let’s follow the DNC’s lead on this one and dismiss them as a disinformation outfit. ---

I’m thinking that Trump is trolling the entire country. He keeps doing shit to outrage everyone and it becomes the new normal, so he has to do more outrageous shit. His new [budget](https://thinkprogress.org/trump-renewable-energy-budget-cuts-3382dc457f20/) proposal includes a 70% cut to U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) renewable energy and energy efficiency. He’s tried this on every budget but Congress keeps restoring the money. Even Republicans don’t want these cuts. And with Dems in charge of the House, there’s even less chance that these cuts will happen. He’s just doing it to be a dick. ---

On top of this, his latest proposal coming this monday calls for _another_ 700+ billion in “defense” spending. “_He’s just doing it to be a dick_” Entirely plausible: it does reek of “in your face” spite that seems impolitic even by republican standards. ---
