I don’t think that that is his game. I think its just simple targeted intimidation and a power grabbing. With this order he can tell whoever’s charge of clean water standards that they need write regulations that allow Trumps friends to dump whatever they want into the the rivers or they’ll be fired and will be replaced by someone how will. ---

The Republicans will applaud Donald’s scorched-earth policy on the civil service not just because they embrace ‘small government’ ideas, but because the mess created will hobble Biden’s efforts to be an effective President. A lot of them know they are going to take a major shellacking in ten days. They are consoling themselves with the idea that Biden will have so little chance of dealing with the toxic wasteland Trump will leave him, that voters will turn to the GOP as though to a deity-anointed savior, in both 2022 and 2024. In other words, they will support Trump’s every effort to damage and enfeeble the United States of America. ---

One of my trumper relatives loves to repost stuff on fb from those who can be described most kindly as outright dumbshits. Mind you, said relative agrees with this nonsense. The latest nonsense was a twofer. One post showed a silhouette of a dog dropping a deuce into a man’s mouth. On the man’s silhouette, there was a label: “Biden/Harris True Believers”. The other post showed Obama saying, “Trump is reversing all my policies” and Jesus Christ responding, “That’s because you reversed all mine”. THIS is what pisses me off the most about that clown pissing all over the constitution and, yes, the Bible, too. He has somehow gotten millions of people to flat out ignore reality while the clown they adore is literally causing the deaths of a thousand Americans every day. ---

This. My old boss has started posting pro-republican stupid stuff, mixed with super Christian memes. When I worked for her, in a social service agency, she constantly emphasized compassion and understanding our clients’ situations. Stressed helping people over being punitive. Now? It’s pious I Got Mine lunacy. Granted, her husband is a retired Minneapolis cop and they now live up in a blood red expensive lakeside community, but still. She’s gone whackadoo. ---

The level of cognitive dissonance is staggering. At a dinner party (before the pandemic) I had to listen to one of my relatives sharing video of the Trump rally she attended, and at one point while she was gushing, she said she took her 12 year old grandson because “Trump is such a great role model for kids. He shows how you have to stand up for yourself.” I did my best not to barf on the table. ---

There were right-wing posters here (now banned) that had been around for years. Every single Trumper I know shares the belief that they didn’t get where they wanted to go in life because of \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_. Fill in the blank with whatever group(s) you choose. This includes the 75-year-old white guy who was hot stuff in high school in 1955, but is now just another aging geezer struggling to get by on social security, the 23-yo who failed at college, ending his dream of being a teacher, and the unskilled couple in their 50s who had family jobs paying big bucks in their 20s, but are still earning the same which isn’t so much at 50. Trump really does represent them if you look at his record of failures. He gave them permission to blame it on someone else,and it’s like he lanced a boil of hatred.
