Since it is a “crypto” venture I can with 100% certainty tell you there is not an account somewhere with 4.4M real dollars in it. I am amusing myself with imagining what is going on in MaL right now: “sir, we sold all the cards” - “ok, gimmie the money” - “wait sir, it doesn’t quite work like that” -“don’t care, gimmie my money” - “there is no money sir” … He can decide if he wants to nail his crypto buddies to the nearest tree or to dance for joy at all the media that is reporting he “sold out” something. ---

Yes, that was one of the scams. But a significant part was sold for “ETH”: most likely by the people selling them. Paying themselves from wallet #1 to wallet #2. Crypto is a repeating story of people holding the assets doing all kinds of shit to inflate the “price”. One or two people buying one of those cards for an inflated price is the goal. “Selling out” the cards is an essential first step in accomplishing that. The fun part of crypto is that everybody who holds any amount of coins/tokens is in on it. They all have the same goal: Artificially inflating the price (preferably creating headlines) - find a mark - sell the token. Nobody holding any amount of crypto will ever admit to it (why would they?). Nor will they ever come out to tell how much of the “trading” is “wash trading” (spoiler: all of it). The Trump cards are useful because they are guaranteed to generate headlines, One or two marks buying the hype will pay for the whole venture. ---

Going back to the origination of the NFT, Trump would have licensed/sold his image for money up front (that’s how he does it) then get a percentage of the sale money. 1. Upfront money (guaranteed pure profit). 2. Percentage of sales - 30 to 50% or more (insider engineered/pumped). 3. 10% vigorish on resales (pumping, pumping, pumping). 4. GRIFT (totally insulated by multilevel LLCs and lawyer speak). ---
