When I studied the Russian language years ago, and I studied it during the Cold War, we quite enjoyed a joke that somehow came to us from the USSR. Understand first that _pravda_ is Russian for “truth,” and _izvestia_ is Russian for “news.” And the two big USSR daily papers were named _Pravda_ and _Izvestia_. So. What’s the difference between _Pravda_ and _Izvestia_? Well, there is no _izvestia_ in _Pravda_, and there is no _pravda_ in _Izvestia_. A bit of a hijack, but I hope it was amusing.
