Granted, I live in the Midwest, where time stands still, and I’m not the most observant, but since Obama I haven’t noticed much of anything at all different about the country. Everything is humming along, much like it always has. ---

Same with me in the PNW. I’d say it’s better, but then again I can’t help but compare now to the end of Trump’s reign where we were at the peak of the pandemic. That sort of thing makes it hard to objectively judge things in all honesty. You can talk about how bad of a job he did (that’s easy enough to do), but so much of what’s going on in the world and in our daily lives is outside of the control of the POTUS, or at least they have very little influence on it. ---

But it’s a core tenet of Trumpism that “This used to be the best country in the world, but now it’s one of the worst.” On this imaginary chart, 2017-2021 was a brief uptick, but since Biden took office the decline has only gained speed. Naturally there’s not a shred of empirical evidence for any of it, and even the anecdotal evidence is cherry-picked bullshit. ---
