If the Senate had done their job and convicted to impeach, this would have been over a few years ago. And I find it funny, if they had convicted, Trump wouldn’t be in nearly as much hot water as he is now. And republicans in general would be in much better shape. It’s a tossup as to how far Trump will go as he loses his patience with the whole thing. So, my bet - he’s had his first warning, and the followup coming soon on continuing to do so _prior_ to the judge being more clear. Strike one. Trump will of course, do it again, depending on the judge’s forbearance, with some other minor excuse which the judge won’t accept and get strike two with new language saying that if he can’t control himself, the judge will have no other options. But will Trump get to strike three where I bet the judge WILL jail him? Based on how angry he is right now at these early stages, and how badly his defense team manages in terms of Trump’s preferred aggressive tactics? I’d say it’s at least 50/50 by this point. ---

I think it would be interesting for the judge to sentence Trump to one night in jail, between two trial days. It wouldn’t delay the trial, and it wouldn’t impede Trump’s schedule, except maybe prevent him from giving one post-court tirade. It should be viewed as the most lenient confinement possible. But how interesting would it be for Trump to have to show up for court the next day without his at-home grooming routine? I wonder how Trump would look without the hairspray, bronzer, and whatever else he usually slathers on in the morning. ---

We’re in the Pit, so, I’d say I’d totally love to see it. Buuuut… the judge has been very clear on not stepping on his _legitimate_ claims to a fair trial (not that most of his claims are such), so I’m sure he’d allow enough time for Trump to clean up prior to showing up to the trial as to not prejudice the jury due to Trump’s appearance. Damn it all. 🙂 As for our favorite @ThelmaLou - trust not my wisdom, for it is all but folly in a world where Trump manages to exist and be popular! But I will say, in a delicious-pit way, that this is probably the First Time I’ve ever seen Trump so beaten down. Normally, when he’s on (civil) trial, it’s all bluster and rage. But all the reports of his being bored/asleep or childishly enraged in court _and forced to take it_ warms the dark crusted veins in my heart. Having gone so long without being seriously balked has certainly inflated his feelings of superiority, plus his fluffer insulating him further with non-stop positive propaganda must create near-unspeakable cognitive dissonance on a daily basis. Sadly though, this is one of the things that makes me doubt the _extent_ of his reported cognitive decline. If it was as far gone as the most extreme reports, then I’d have bet that he’d have blown through the gag order on this or other cases unless they’re physically keeping his access away when he isn’t supervised. Which… well, isn’t out of the question, but I haven’t seen any evidence of it so far.
