I’m not saying that they’ll bring Trump into court in an orange jumpsuit. I’m sure someone could bring him a razor and a clean suit, the stuff most guys would need to look presentable. I just think that Trump’s vanity would require a lot more than that. He’d either have to tell his attorneys everything he needs for his morning beauty routine, or appear in court without it all. I think either one would be awkward for him. ---

I think prison officers have standards. They would most likely prefer to let Trump shit his pants at home than soil his orange overall in prison. Less laundromat costs, at the very least. ---

Actually, for me the best part of @Robot_Arm’s suggestion is that there’s evidence that Trump naps a lot during the day, but is up at weird hours of the night. So normally, a night in jail is as good as it gets, just sleep it off as it were. But imagine Trump up half the night (per his early AM twuths) with NO internet or other entertainment. The discontent and bored-dumb (deliberate) of a 3 year old without a tablet to soothe them would be positively miniscule by comparison. Excuse me, I need to take a break to go sit under a waterfall or something. Completely understandable, **PL**. I’d love to see the NYS legislature rush through a law allowing a trial judge to impose financial penalties for contempt commensurate with a defendant’s financial means. ---

Given all the publicity about how he stiffs or shortchanges people who work for him, I’m pretty sure that his lawyers demanded a hefty retainer up front. IME, that’s actually normal for engaging a lawyer, whether you’re Donald Trump or Joe Nobody. If the lawyer doesn’t use it all, the client gets the unearned change back. The lawyers thus engaged wouldn’t care where the money came from. As long as it was earmarked for the client’s case, it would be applied to the client’s matter. As such, and assuming that Trump’s lawyers had such a sum on hand, I think they’d pay the fines on behalf of Trump and just charge it against his retainer. The court doesn’t care whether the fine payments come out of Trump’s pocket or not; as long as they receive the fine payments levied against him. ---

She was originally American, and naturally, covered by some sort of for-profit health insurance when she was in the US. She had a “no pregnancy” rider on her health insurance, which lessened the premium. Then she moved to Canada, where that didn’t matter. She never wanted children, so if she got pregnant, she could have an abortion at no out-of-pocket charge. No insurance hassles, no questions. She was covered by the provincial health plan, which covered abortions. Because of that, and other reasons, she wouldn’t move back to the US for all the money in the world. Hell, she’s a doctor, and doesn’t have to employ an array of clerks just to look after sixteen-bazillion insurance companies’ claim forms. It’s one and done for her, and she’ll expect the government cheque at the end of the month. She gets it, no questions asked. She left the US, but knowing her the way I do, if you told her that a pregnancy test was communicating with a state or federal authority, she’d leave anyway. As far as she was concerned no government at any level had any say in her reproductive health. ---
