Is Ave Maria usually associated with Catholic rites or do all Christian denominations revere it? I really can’t fathom why he would play it (twice! as mentioned by @solost) at a political function. He doesn’t do anything without ulterior motive so I wonder who he thought was going to respond positively to it. I’ve only heard it live at an overly long wedding and a funeral. Not being of the Christian faith, I’m pretty ignorant of these things. No offense intended. ---

some times the words are different. orthodox has: Theotokos Virgin, rejoice, Mary full of grace, the Lord is with You. Blessed are You among women, and blessed is the fruit of Your womb, for You have borne the Savior of our souls. catholic has: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen the text is taken from luke, greetings from gabriel and elizabeth. the catholic church added a line. ---

I don’t know why everyone is complaining about Trump quietly swaying to music for 39 minutes. It’s the smartest he’s ever sounded. And think about all the people who paid to go hear Trump’s greatest political hits, to instead be treated to silence. One time some years ago I went to a Star Trek convention (well, a commercial rake in your money event) where Leonard Nimoy was billed to speak. Now I know he was ancient and had been doing these for decades, so the whole Spock thing had to be wearing thin, but my sister and I had never had the opportunity to see him. So we were excited. Until he got up on stage to share his latest project, a video of him acting old radio programs. Yes, he was there, but the segment was video of these radio scripts, complete with the product placement. And they weren’t parodies - I’ve participated in that kind of thing. It wasn’t just an encerpt. We sat through over a half hour, having already hung around the place through some other shenanigans, before we have up and left. That left me very irritated at the time and money spent. Especially since I’ve been to real fan conventions. Anyway, I have to think a lot of people are feeling that way right now. ---

He can even record the executions and play “Ave Maria” over the edit. (When I hear Ave Maria the first thing I think of isn’t the religious associations. It’s the ending scene from The Godfather. And the movie is old enough I think Trump might get the reference.) ---
