We just got a notice today from the Office of Justice Programs to scrub anything related to federal funding on our website, and, if the website is funded in any part by a federal grant (it’s not) to add a disclaimer that says what’s on our website does not reflect OJP endorsement. I believe (but do not have confirmation) this is OJP trying pre-emptively to avoid problems for nonprofits. I’m not sure if it will be sufficient. I have actually had a longtime professional goal to eventually move into grants administration work for the Division of Victim Services at the state or federal administration level. Looks like that’s not happening anytime soon. The irony here is I’ve been burning out for months, but this bullshit has actually reminded me of why I’m doing this and given me a little bit of meaning back. It also helps to be in an environment where people are collaborating and responding proactively. As I said during the first Trump administration, the work remains unchanged. The work will always be there. It really does bring me comfort to have something hands-on to do in times like these. I think I’d go mad otherwise. ---

As for late night comedy, one of them–I can’t recall which–DID do a joke about it. The portrait was shown and the host said something like ‘what’s up with this?’ and the camera pulled back to show that it looks like it does because Donald was holding a flashlight under his face, the way kids do to be scary. Comparing Donald to dopey kids trying to be impressive is _ **always** _ going to work, because…you know. ---

My guess would be that they are worried that you might have some DEI type comments on your site that could get them in trouble if they were seen as endorsing it. The powers that be taking great efforts to completely memory hole the merest mention of transgenderism of diversity. If you were funded by a OJP grant and your website said you provided legal assistance to racial minorities the persons who gave you that grant could be on the chopping block. ---
