I’m currently reading the Woodward book and I’m at the part that describes Trump’s pressure campaign on Pence. After Pence stood up to Trump — a move that caused Trump and Bannon to say “they’d ever seen anything like it”- Trump composed and tried to release a statement saying that Pence agreed with him and was going to oppose the certification. Pence’s staff managed to block it. There’s a reason that no one will negotiate with Trump unless there’s a third party present. The outright counterfactual lie is a classic Trump move. ---
