How often is this ballroom needed anyhow? How many state dinners are held at the White House each year? The [Wikipedia list](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_state_dinners_in_the_United_States) shows only two during Trump’s first term. Couldn’t they just rent a hotel ballroom instead? On the other hand, perhaps the new White House ballroom could be made available for rental by outside groups, like local high schools for their proms. ---

At 90,000 square feet it more than 1.5 times the size of a football field, and is three times the size of the largest ballroom in DC ---
