Two of our kids are brown-skinned adult adoptees, and we live in a persistent nagging fear that they’ll do something by accident or negligence that will make them visible, or that someone will be able to change the legal status of people like them. I just woke up from my first ICE nightmare - the house being forcibly searched - and I have to tell you I fucking hate him and everyone around him in ways I would not have guessed was possible for me, and I wish the very worst things upon every one of them. ---
