Richard Pryor plays a computer guy who notices that everyone’s pay was rounded down to the nearest cent. He writes a program that takes all those 0.1 cents and adds them to his own pay cheque. Lex Luthor is both horrified and impressed and hires him. ---

The “Rounding Error” fraud (AKA “Salami Slicing”) long predates the movie **Superman III** (1983). I’m pretty sure I heard of it before then. Superman III and Office Space certainly helped to popularize the idea. Lots of classic scams end up being used in stories and movies simply because they’re time-tested and interesting. ---
