Sigh. In keeping with the theme. OVW has released a “revised” funding opportunity for transitional housing, and it’s… different. The priority areas are rural (okay) and human trafficking with an emphasis on illegal immigration and criminal cartels. Out of scope activities include “violating federal immigration law” which I presume to mean serving undocumented immigrants, “gender ideology” which I presume to mean serving trans women and “any activities that frame domestic violence or sexual assault as a systemic rather than criminal issue.” To add to the fun, I just reviewed Trump’s proposed budget cuts and they intend to eliminate CDBG so there’s another $100k gone from our budget. I’m getting to the point where I want to say to my committee: We cannot trust government funding at all right now. It may leave us worse off than where we started to pursue these opportunities. It’s time to start making staff cuts. It sucks but this is such a dangerous game. ---

I found it interesting to begin that, at least the BBC does not fully capitalise MAGA. I do not recall even here on the Dope anyone doing so. I suppose that notion and idea will be accepted and embraced by the Maggots. In 65 years (and many more but Joseph Kennedy Sr. had a lot of money) America has gone from some fear that the President will do the Pope’s bidding to “This pope - despite being American - will not speak for us red-capped Maggots.” I’ve no idea what people in 1960 whispered or worried about with a Catholic president running. The Pope wasn’t saying “Communism in all forms is bad, especially Vietnam” or “Castro must be assassinated” any more than “Go to the Moon”. Even were he to speak about peace between Pakistan -v- India or his rival in religion (Only ONE can be right) the Dalai Lama, neither of which I expect he’ll do in specific terms, it’s not his papal job to possibly assuage the Maggots and he doesn’t need any more votes (nor does the Dalai Lama) than he’s got. Be a good Pope, a good guy and I know more than just Catholics listen to him and heed his words. So be wise. ---
