So did youtube the Reagan Shooting. Jerry Perr - the SS agent with the white-tan overcoat - may have been carrying just about anything (and he was walking next to Reagan entering the conference and when the shots start he pushes Reagan into the limo and that’s the last we see him. The guy with the Uzi comes from somewhere and is pulling the stock back on what i reckon is the only Uzi seen.

Also youtubed Trump’s shooting. Ths SS in general screwed up as this guy got within 150 yards with an AR-15 - not quite the gun of choice for snipers but that is close. The SS snipers did their job yet not in a timely way - it looks like they should have seen this guy.

Trump is dragged off-stage mainly by a woman and four others. He does raise his fist a bit so quite a bit of dramatic license.

I knew when I saw that photo the election was over.

And honestly? I can’t believe I’m saying this but it’s fucking badass. I think only a true narcissist could look beyond the peril of the moment and, _on instinct_, think about their image, but what a shot.

Almost getting assassinated may have been the best thing that ever happened to him. Wish his would-be assassin had considered that.

He’s pissed me off today because I got drug into a debate on Facebook with the friend of a friend, who seems about a red armband away from thinking of 1930s Germany as “the good ol’ days,” and I can’t quite think how to rebut this particular comment (while discussing illegal deportation, due process, etc):

> [@](#):
>
> OK here you go.
>
> While the Trump administration’s immigration policies and practices have been subject to numerous legal challenges and debates, including accusations of violating due process, it’s false to claim that immigrants in the U.S. have been systematically deported without any due process.
> Here’s a more detailed explanation:
>
> 1. Due Process Rights for Immigrants:
> The U.S. Constitution guarantees due process rights to all individuals within the country, regardless of their immigration status.
> This means that even undocumented immigrants are entitled to certain legal procedures before being deported.
> 2. Expedited Removal and the Alien Enemies Act:
> The Trump administration expanded the use of expedited removal, allowing for quicker deportation of individuals who couldn’t prove they had been in the U.S. for more than two years.
> They also invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport individuals deemed “alien enemies” without immigration court hearings, targeting members of the Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua.
> 3. Limitations on Due Process and Court Challenges:
> The use of expedited removal and the Alien Enemies Act by the Trump administration did reduce due process protections for some immigrants.
> However, the Supreme Court pushed back against the administration’s use of the Alien Enemies Act, requiring that immigrants be given notice and time to challenge deportation orders.
> The specific due process rights available to immigrants can differ based on factors like legal status and length of time in the U.S.
> The administration’s immigration policies faced significant legal challenges, with courts frequently intervening to safeguard due process rights for immigrants.
> In Conclusion:
> While the Trump administration’s policies, such as expedited removal and invoking the Alien Enemies Act, limited some due process protections, it is not accurate to claim immigrants were deported without any due process. The courts, including the Supreme Court, have acted to ensure some level of due process for immigrants facing deportation.
>
> This is not opinion, it’s fact.
> You say otherwise, where is your proof? Not what you believe or feel. But can prove beyond reasonable doubt.

So I prostrate myself upon my fellow Teeming Millions for assistance in crafting a semi-coherent reply.

Yeah, about that one. Trump may have to reach out to Putin to get a second opinion:

[U.S. intelligence agencies contradict Trump’s Tren de Aragua claims](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5AKFlK6Y_E)

> A declassified memo drafted by U.S. intelligence agencies contradicts President Donald Trump’s claims that Venezuela’s government controls the Tren de Aragua gang, an argument he has used to deport immigrants to an El Salvador prison. NBC News’ Dan De Luce reports on the information released from the U.S. intelligence agencies’ memo.

> Due Process Rights for Immigrants:
> The U.S. Constitution guarantees due process rights to all individuals within the country, regardless of their immigration status.
> This means that even undocumented immigrants are entitled to certain legal procedures before being deported.

Which they aren’t getting. Which is entirely the fucking point.

And it’s not just “undocumented immigrants” this is being applied to - legal residents including registered asylum seekers, green card holders, visa holders and even a few actual citizens have been scooped up by ICE and removed from the country.

Hell, women (again - here in the country legally) are being grabbed off the street by masked men, transported to other states and held in detention there for daring to express a personal opinion at odds with the US government. Which “certain legal procedures” cover that, pray tell?

> [@Superdude](#):
>
> Expedited Removal and the Alien Enemies Act:
> The Trump administration expanded the use of expedited removal, allowing for quicker deportation of individuals who couldn’t prove they had been in the U.S. for more than two years.

Ah, the “your papers are not in order” move. Always a favorite of authoritarian regimes.

Note that “due process” requires the US to demonstrate that the individuals are here illegally, because _that’s what due process is_. There is no exception for “unless you’re quite tan and speak Spanish in which case you’re guilty until proven innocent and possibly even afterwards”.

> [@Superdude](#):
>
> They also invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport individuals deemed “alien enemies” without immigration court hearings, targeting members of the Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua.

You mean “targeting people they _claim_ are members of Tren de Aragua with no substantial proof that this is true, no due process to allow that proof to be seen and tested, and deliberate disinformation to justify deporting (or just straight out trafficking) people we know have never been members of that or any gang”? This is entirely the problem.

Also, the whole “this bullshit we made up about an invasion (that isn’t happening) justifies us invoking an act that doesn’t apply in this situation and wouldn’t even if there _were_ vast hordes of undocumented immigrants coming across the border in order to circumvent some very clear and definitive parts of the US Constitution” argument is - as many courts have pointed out - not remotely legally valid.

We are not “at war” in any sense that allows legal action based on it.

> [@Superdude](#):
>
> However, the Supreme Court pushed back against the administration’s use of the Alien Enemies Act, requiring that immigrants be given notice and time to challenge deportation orders.

Which the Trump administration ignored and continues to ignore.

Not actually true.

> [@Superdude](#):

Which the Trump administration ignored and continues to ignore.

When’s Kilmar Abrego Garcia coming home?

> [@Superdude](#):
>
> While the Trump administration’s policies, such as expedited removal and invoking the Alien Enemies Act, limited some due process protections, it is not accurate to claim immigrants were deported without any due process.

Yes it is. This is not opinion. It’s fact. It’s not what I “believe and feel”. It’s what is happening _right now_.

Which is why there are cages full of young men in El Salvador, removed from the US and imprisoned for life in inhuman conditions without any due process in violation of the Constitution and multiple court orders, three-quarters of which have no criminal record and many of which were legal residents of the US.

You know who _is_ promoting inaccurate claims about immigrants being deported? Trump and the Republicans and their pet media. Why aren’t you challenging them instead, if you’re so concerned about people acting illegally?

Kilmeade confronted Leavitt about the gift, prompting her to reply that “ **any donation to this government is always done in full compliance with the law, and we commit ourselves to the utmost transparency, and we will continue to do that**.”

“Do you worry that if they give us something like this, they want something in return?” Kilmeade followed up.

“Absolutely not,” Leavitt insisted, “ **Because they know President Trump and they know he only works with the interests of the American public in mind.** ”

The bold portions (mine) are the most mind boggling deliberate lies I’ve heard in the last few days (I despair). WiskeyPete and Winebox Pirro must be toasting each other celebrating these whoppers.
