I am tempted to start a thread about the merits of pushing the TACO narrative to its limits in the hopes that Trump will do the worst thing possible and actually follow through. I just watched season 2 of Andor and there is a similar situation (mild spoilers hidden): Luthen knows the Empire is going to do something horrible on Ghorman but he encourages the growing rebellion there. He knows the crackdown is going to be harsh (although it’s fair to say he had no idea what the actual plan was) and he knows that the harsher the Empire is, the more pushback there will be across the galaxy. Pushing Trump’s buttons may mean he pushes nuclear buttons and that’s only fun in the movies. But if he doesn’t do something truly terrible there will never be any real push to get him out of office. Republicans will just continue cowering and hoping that someday he’ll die. On that note, the media has once again noticed that Trump’s brain ain’t quite right. We had quite an active thread here during the election, documenting the various absurd and demented things Trump would say at an alarming rate at every single one of his rallies. It’s a reasonable thing to hesitate over, given the power the affronted idiot can wield. Though the more mocked he is, perhaps, the less likely he is to find willing hands to help him do harm. (He can’t blow up the planet _entirely_ on his own.) One possible factor: the “chicken” and “taco” memes can infuriate him only to the degree he understands them. Being called “a chicken” is something he certainly understands. “Let’s Go Taco” is definitely more obscure, though: it’s a take-off on “Let’s Go Brandon” which was embraced by MAGA as a way of saying “F\_\_K Joe Biden” without actually cursing. (Due to someone mishearing the latter as the former, some months or years ago.) “Let’s Go Taco” doesn’t map onto “F\_\_K Donald Trump” in any such handy way. It’s sort of a meme-at-third-hand: it references something we understand but isn’t actually understandable on its own. Not that Trump would go through these cogitations, of course. He’d just know that people are mocking him, when he sees banners or signs or hats or whatever. There is apparently the Spanish word “taco” which can mean “wedge” or “plug”. And an etymological theory that the food name came from the shape of it. (I don’t think it’s particularly definitive or anything though.) I guess “wad” is also similar. ---

My dictionary says the original tacos were wrapped (rolled) such that they resembled the plugs that miners woutd stuff into a hole for blasting. But, calling Felon-ONE a “wad” has a certain appeal to it. ---
