Imagine that you were in love with the girl next door. She is smart, kind to animals, and laughs at your jokes. She isn’t a supermodel, but has wholesome good look’s and a cute little gap between her front teeth. You are totally smitten. Then one day she casually mentions that she willingly sucked off the entire high school football team one weekend. Could you ever look at her the same way again? That’s how I feel about the US since they elected Trump. He is a pig, a conman, a bigot, and a moron. The least qualified person to ever run on a major party ticket. And still, just under half of the voters cast their votes for him. If just white people had voted, then he would have won the popular vote in a landslide. Someday Trump will be out of office, but the voters will still be here. How can I ever look at the US the same way as I did before the election? ---

Why cannot you accept that your (hypothetical) girl next store is more complicated than your fantasies about her, and owns her own sexuality. ---

She’s just going through some mood swings. Right now she’s in the “_make the working class happy by promising them shit they aren’t going to get_” phase. Give her a another cycle or two and she will swing back to her “_make the the working class people angry because you’re taking away their shit and giving it to people who don’t deserve it_” phase. But maybe you want the “P_ubbies and Demmies should quit trying to hurt one another and concentrate on doing what’s best for your girlfriend_” phase. If that’s the case, you’re fucked. ---

Irony is when you’re complaining about Trump when one of the major complaints against him is that he treats women badly by making an analogy that denies that women have a right to sexual agency and shames them for doing something that you’d cheer a guy for. ---

Just so you know… This is a fiercely anti-Trump message board. The sentiment you posted, while not phrased very tactfully, is neither new nor particularly insightful. We have many active anti-Trump threads in the Pit that you could have posted in, rather than start a “Trump is teh suxxor!1” thread. People are giving you shit because: Your OP didn’t add anything to what’s already here and you used an analogy that, especially these days, is an insult to women in general.
