The world needs to move on without us, and China and Europe needs to take a stronger position in world leadership on fixing issues like climate change, global poverty, income inequality, etc. The US is too deranged to fix these issues. Resentful white nationalism has driven people insane here. We are too dumb and dysfunctional as a collective to act intelligently anymore. ---

Use baked beans. Way better than spicy pinto (revoltos, as in stomach revolution) beans for this. Tortilla or a piece of toast. Scramble one egg. 1/4 cup baked beans, warmed. Layer the beans over the egg, add salsa. Quick and easy. ---

I look at most Trump voters I know with sorrowful resignation. Because Trump is a con man. And people are slow to admit that they’ve been conned, especially when everyone is watching. Plus a vital part of the long con is letting the mark win at first. The con man often uses borrowed money for this part, just like when Trump and the Pubbies agreed to borrow 1.5 trillion to hand out tax cuts. And his marks are still unsuspecting and still all in. I’m especially saddened about Trumpers who, when you mention Trump University, say something about “how if anyone was dumb enough to fall for that they deserve what they got”. Then I ask them who they think Trump’s mark is this time. Then I remind them that if you are dealing with a con artist and you don’t know who the mark is, it’s probably you. But I’ve kind of given up hope that the reckoning will come before everyone realizes they’ve been Madoffed. I’m just resigned and sad. ---

The barker out front promised the hottest women, and the coolest drinks. What I got inside was an eyeful of saggy cellulite and some warm pisswater that gave me the runs. I don’t know how I’ll ever be be able to look at Iceland the same. ---

Imagine a pleasant looking lady bartender. When you order a drink she replies with the most annoying Jersey accident you ever heard, and complains constantly about her boss. Than when she places your change on the bar and you don’t immediately seize it, she pockets it as a tip. Goddamm Canada. ---

Picture a Famous young pop singer, you go to her shows, buy her albums write her letters about how she sings specially for you and how you are destined to be together. She never writes back, so you break into her apartment to steal some of her panties, but you get caught and put on a psych hold and they get a restraining order, and now she looks at you with fear when she sees you hiding in her bushes with a Machete. I wrote [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=19763641&postcount=752) the night of the election when things were clearly going sideways. I still consider the U.S. a friend, but I’m more keenly aware that some of my friend’s shortcomings are not mere quirks, but major personality flaws. ---
