I never much liked Ted, but the last few seasons have made him somehow even more awful (along with everyone else sliding down the very slippery slope to unwatchable). When he proposed, I was rooting for her to say no. Her goo goo eyes at him, her enthusiasm towards him? I just can’t see it based on what a whiny loser Ted’s been. And because of how this season is being done, it doesn’t seem like we will see the Ted that she will see. ---

We _did_ have narrator-Ted talking about how she hit the proverbial reset button on his love life. Maybe the writers will be able to get away with Ted quickly becoming more happy and pleasant, once he’s in a good relationship. I doubt that the writers were clever enough, though, to intentionally make Ted get gradually more awful over the years (and drag his friends down with him), and then snap back. ---

Can somebody please explain the joke where Ted’s mom’s boyfriend (it wasn’t his dad, was it?) yells “I will not go back to coaching the Browns!” I don’t follow the NFL much. ---

She’s a baby at the 2015 Watching Of The Star Wars … so she might be at least 15. 🙂 But now the timeline is screwed … if Ted and Mother meet in May 2013 and he proposes two years later … dammit show, why you make me think so hard? Meh. Ted is, at best, an unreliable narrator. I’ll give him six months’ leeway here and there and stop thinking about it. ---

There are a couple of possible explanations; that it was just a random thing to throw in there, that Cleveland is so rinky-dink that any old guy could coach the Browns, that he smokes a lot of drugs and he only thinks he coaches the Browns. Oh, I guess it’s possible that in the show he actually _does_ coach the Browns. 🙂 The guy is Ted’s step-dad, by the way - Ted had a hard time with the wedding a while ago. ---

I really enjoying this season, which is something of a surprise (I had my doubts about the concept for this season). I’ve been struck by how much “The Mother” sounds and acts like Lily, which fits into my long-standing notion that Ted has strong feelings for Lily (not that he’d ever act on them, but I think he’s idealized the Marshall-Lily relationship as what he wants from life (note that he started his search for a wife immediately after Marshall and Lily got engaged), and so naturally seeks someone like Lily for himself). ---
