I’m loving the pics– **Mika** , you’re adorable! I like your hair short and curly. **Lisslar** --if that’s a 20 lb weight gain, you must have been rail thin. You look great–like your hair and the necklace. I can’t wear necklaces–I fidget with them and (usually) break them that way. **anyrose** --our celebrity! How many shows were you in? I love “amateur” theater–grew up going to summer stock on Cape Cod–lots of college kids from Oberlin and similiar, all doing G&S etc. Love it. And oh, yes–I remember rainbow sweaters… **Spats** -what can I say? I am frantically trying to think of an urgent physics problem that only YOU can solve…my quantum hero in his Foster Grants. Off to work–ugh. Awoke at 0300 and couldn’t go back to sleep, so this should be a great day. :rolleyes: I leave tomorrow for [del]boot camp[/del] orientation. I discovered yesterday that I should have received some sort of information packet and didn’t. This is about the fifth thing that has not showed up etc. WTH? Hopefully not as hot today–watered like a fiend last noc. So much for saving money etc… ---

First off, **FCM** , good going with the boat looking. Looks like me and **FCD** should go bowling, because I spend my non-existent free time looking for boats too. When we moved from Florida we had to sell ours. I actually got a tear in my eye when the new owner came for it. I lurved it, though a sophistcated boater like you would probably laugh at its size and brand (19ft Carolina Skiff). Now I spend my time looking for the fixer-uppper that will take me and the wife on our journey down the rivers of the U.S. We’re years away from that trip, but it never hurts to look, right? For all that asked, **Exgineer** has always been a tired old curmudgeon. Now I’m gonna vent at the stupid that is my job: Yesterday, we found out that we have to start using a change management system when we make changes to the servers. From now on, any change I make has to go through the CMS and be approved, _even if it is an emergency._ The CMS board of approvers meet once a day, at 10am. That means if I have an emergency at 10:15, I have to submit my request, call them, and ask them to approve it. There are 10 of them. Only one of them is from the IT department, none of the others can even understand what a server is. They can barely understand thier desktop computers. So basically I have a group of people who have no idea what I do for a living deciding whether I can actually do my job. Most of them rarely answer thier phones, so an emergency situation ought to be load of fun when it comes. And it will. I know what you’re thinking: That’s dumb as hell! I totally agree, but it gets better! Not only do I have to do the entry and submit it, but I have to log everything into the old change tracking system, the work order system, on the local log for the server and notify the clients (all of them) of what I did. So let me walk you through what it takes to, for example, apply patches to one of my microsoft servers: 1. Generate a work order (I must call the support center to do this, even though I have the privledges to create work orders myself). One work order per patch must be generated. 2. Enter a request in the CMS to patch my server. One request per patch must be generated. 3. Enter my intent to patch the servers into the change tracking system. One entry per patch. 4. E-mail all users that connect to the server and let them know that I might be patching the server, assuming the change request is approved. 5. Wait until 10am the next day. 6. Apply patches. 7. Close each work order. 8. Close each change management ticket. 9. Log the change on the local system log. 10. Log each change in the change tracking database. 11. E-mail the clients and tell them I’ve patched it. 12. E-mail the CMS Board and tell then I’ve patched it. 13. Find and kill something, preferably something furry and soft that screams a lot. In short, it takes me almost an hour to do something as simple as patch one effing server. Hell has a special place reserved for the dillhole that thinks this is a good idea. Especially since I have 34 effing servers in my area of responsibility. That’s all I got, except that I looked at all the pictures out there that people have posted and, quite frankly, I’m much cuter than you guys. 😃 ---

I am on an eternal quest to make the most perfectly fussy overdone piece of jewellery, and I don’t wear earrings. I have at least forty necklaces, each one more melodramatic than the last. Mornings are held too early. Mr. Lissar was up coughing a lot, and called in to work to say he was sick. He’s got a sore throat/racking cough/feverish pain deal. Lots of fun. I probably won’t get the computer again today (he’s still asleep) because illness requires WoW. 😃 ---

They told her to eat, rest, walk around, and come back when the contractions started up again. If I remember right, she’s almost a week past her due date, but I guess they want to let it happen as naturally as possible. She’s starting to get annoyed, though. Last I heard, she was reasoning with her stomach. 🙂 Last night, I came home from work, ate ice cream, ate dinner, and then ate more ice cream. These are the advantages of being a grownup. And I’ll try to find some pics tonight. Of course, they’ll be pics of pics, because I don’t have a scanner, but I _do_ have a digital camera. 🙂 ---

**Spats** that’s **LL** ’s quasi-daughter, not daughter. They are about the same age. No, I don’t understand it either, it’s just one of those “I bellieve” situations. And the only pictures I have of me are from golfing last year. And a like to one or two MySpace pictures. I’ll have to get them posted later. ---

Y’all will have to go hunt down one of the picture threads to see me. I’ve posted several times in those threads. So, I’m bein’ all curmudgeony (I learned it from **ex** ) and sayin’ if’n ya wants to see me, go look for it. So There! 😛 Today is primary election day in Jawja. We get to elect a goobenor, lt. goobenor and other fun state type people as well as state and U.S. representatives in the various districts in which we all dwell. I voted before I came in to work. I have one of those round stickers on my shirt that has a peach on it and says “I’m a Georgia voter.” The stickers are cute. I have several stuck on my fridges at home cause I’m quite fond of taking them off my shirt when I get home and stickin’ 'em on the fridges. No, I don’t know why I do it, I just do. Sheesh! My favorite thing I have stuck on a fridge is a bottle opener (church key) that has a beer mug on it. I have lots of little magnetic type stuff stuck on my fridges. I do not, I repeat, **do not** want to be at work today. Therefore, I shall endeavor to do as little as possible cause that’s the kind of mood I am in today. Ima go read threads now. ---

For the record, yep, I brought beer. Lots and lots of beer. But what I didn’t drink I poured down my pants – it’s just that damn hot out here. The fudge is a Christmas thing. Heats up the kitchen somethin’ awful when the Razorette starts whippin’ that stuff up. It’s too hot right now to even bring virtual fudge. \*\*gardentraveler \*\* and \*\*FairyChatMom \*\* will get some REAL fudge during the holidays, providing I can figger out where to send it. I apologize for the “double wide” comment, by the way. But those veined mirrors, and I was deep into my fourth Fat Tire … am I forgiven? My ear still hurts. ---

**Swampy** , I’ll have you know that I found a gen-yoo-wine Whiskeypalian church in bee-yoo-ti-ful downtown Mayberry. I was sorta shocked, actually. The closest Brewtheran church is some 25 miles away, so I was surprised to find a church that wasn’t Baptist or Methodist. The building is quite small, so there must not be many Whiskeypalians around. I wanted to stick it in my pocket and take it home… ---
