How important are reduced prices to you?

In other news, I once lived next to a furniture store that had a “Going Out of Business Sale” that lasted for at least three years. It was still going on when I left.

That seems to be the usual furniture store m.o. I have a theory that all the furniture stores in town are just money-laundering fronts for various ethnic mafia types.

In the US Sears explicitly has at least two very similar appliance models on the floor at any given time. They are slightly different in detail but essentially the same. That way one can always be on sale.

Wine is a special case. If the wine costs too little, customers think that it might not be any good. Thus, listing it as reduced makes it sound like it’s a better wine.

I will go for sale items, but only if I like them.
