I use cursive a lot, especially when taking notes in class. I can write much more quickly. Also, for some reason, my brain can see “c squiggle l squiggle t squiggle e” and immediately say cumulative, or whatever word I wrote without using all the necessary letters.
Wow, I feel old. I never could have forseen a time when someone would not know/be taught how to read/ write handwriting. Nor could our teachers, so I’ll give them a pass on the “bald faced lie” thing. They really don’t teach it in school these days? That’s a little disturbing. I’ve always considered the ability to write to be a very rudimentary skill; not whether or not one does it"well", but to at least be able to recognize all the letters. Of course, I’ve always been good at it,and enjoy the physical act of writing, so I know I’m not exactly being objective. I remember some of the kids who struggled with it, and yeah, I can see where it would be a big drag if you have a hard time with. But still…can’t / don’t write?
