I’m not trying to be insulting (I myself am not too attentive to paperwork) when I ask if you go over your bills carefully. A friend of mine was being charged twice for every single call through some sort of glitch. It was a nightmare to straighten out.
OP, you might also check and make sure your phone’s text is turned off if you don’t use it. Otherwise you’ll be charged for the daily advertising texts the cell company sends you. And I’ll second gwendee’s advice to read your bill really carefully, because all cell companies are fucking liars.
???
I’ve gotten occasional texts from AT&T, but they’re not daily. What the heck phone company do you use?
But they are. They aren’t charging people $1/minute to call a cell phone.
I was coming in here to post exactly this. I don’t understand how the majority of people stand for the ripoffs that seem to be the standard business practice of most cellular providers. I have three teenaged sons in addition to my wife and I we all have cell phones. Our phone bill this month is $180.00. Last month it was $180 next month it’ll be $180.00. This is with my kids practically living on the phones when they’re not texting sending pics or downloading music, I wouldn’t even venture to guess how many texts they send, hell, I probably send hundreds myself since I tend to send my boys group text messages informing them of dinner, curfew and the like.
It was a Somali woman who was there with her husband and kids. The husband was mad at the wife for using all their family plan minutes every month, and the wife was trying to blame the carrier for some mysterious purpose, probably to avoid the rightful blame.
So on one hand, the agent embarassed a customer in front of her husband - her being a member of a culture where the wife is most definitely subordinate to the husband; but on the other hand, she was way off in left field and it was quite obvious that she was a chatterbox who was guilty as charged.
So (again) on one hand I felt bad for her that she had two males (cultural superiors) pointing angry fingers at her, but on the other hand she was clearly guilty and trying my ex-wife’s “it’s not me, it’s someone else stealing from me!” irrational defense.
The husband chewed her out pretty good in their native tongue.
I’ve got one of those cheapass Go Phones from AT&T. I suspect some of the texts were from the 3rd party retailer I bought it from. I don’t know because I had the feature turned off. I’m old, and generically hate cell phones, but texting creates surprising rage.
So what’s the answer? How do you? Because I don’t get it. There are probably multiple ways to check your minute balance and apparently, you’ve done this more than once. I’m also guessing that it’s pretty expensive to do this, so yeah, how do you do it?
