How is genocide defined, with an emphasis on cultural genocide?

Should genocide have numbers?

Fuck, no. If someone went and killed all, what, 200, Sentinelese, that would be still be genocide.

If they just rounded them all up, took them to the mainland and made them wear Indian clothes and speak only Hindi, that would also still be genocide.

I haven’t heard the term attempted genocide, although maybe it exists.

A failed genocide is still a genocide. We don’t call it the Rwandan Attempt, or the Almost-Shoah, or the Kampuchean No-Cigar-Fields.
