> Long story short- it happened. The Greek word for “world” in Matthew 24 and Mark 13 is “aion”. The Old Covenant Aion ended in 70 A.D. with the destruction of Jerusalem, the Temple & the priestly sacrificial system. Both Josephus & the Talmud record some pretty funky aerial phenomena going on during the Roman Siege. Finally, “the sun & moon darkening and the stars falling” are OT symbolism for the collapse of societies & nations & downfall of rulers.

> This theory is not his alone- it’s just that he’s written what I consider to be the best books on the subject. For more info, look up “Preterism”, especially “Partial Preterism”.

My point is that the fundamentists take the book of Revelations to be word of truth istead of Symbolism, so they wait for Jesus to pick them up in the air.

To believe the Bible or any writings are the word of God is taking the word of a human being and what they teach or say. So believe is only based on a human mind. I am not against people believing what they choose if it helps them to become a better person. Belief is a personal thing and is influenced by one’s upbringing, culture, or a number of things. Some change their beliefs some cling to them.

No one has the patent on what belief is the right one. What is right belief for some may not be good for another. We believe what we want to believe Faith is a matter of choice.

> The Clothahump in the book is a bipedal turtle with hands. He’s a powerful wizard with bouts of senility. And he has drawers built into his plastron ( belly ), complete with knobs, full of spell ingredients and such. A dimensional spell lets him do that without having to displace internal organs.

Boy, had I forgotten all of that! Still, while that’s way cool, it can’t supplant the Pooh-ish image of our **Clothy** I have in my mind. Of course, that always comes up and smacks me in the face when I see one of his posts dealing with politics, so perhaps I can add the bouts of senility aspect of the _real_ Clothahump to my blanket-monster to reconcile the name and the poster and tell myself that it’s just a bout of senility when he posts on current events.

**Clothahump** , would you mind terribly if this hopeless liberal considered you to be having bouts of senility when posting in political threads so that I can retain my affection for you? If you like, you can consider me to be having bouts of senility in return. Of course, you probably don’t have any irrational affection for me to retain, but still…
