I’m pretty sure that I’m a little unusual in this respect, as I’ve known how to drive since pretty early childhood:

My extended family owned a lot of orchards, and consequently quite a bit of land. At around age 7 or so I was allowed to learn how to ride minibikes from my older (16 y.o.) cousin, and onto 4 wheelers at around age 9.

By age 11-12 we were driving both tractors and pickups around the property, mostly for the sake of work (bleh!), hauling gear & loaded bushels back to the packing barn etc.

Come 16 years old, we were more than eager to take the test and get our licenses, because driving **cars** on the **street** was SO much cooler, and would help us get girls.
