I wouldn’t read too much into that. I suspect that an awful lot of people have been under investigation for links to terrorists after 9-11 who have no links to terrorism.
www.consumptionjunction.com has the video as well. It streams. You can’t download it. It made me sick. It took them a long time to do their work.
“OK, but what would you learn about “the nature of the opponent that we face” by viewing the video that you would not have learned via the news story describing what had taken place with Mr Berg?”
I was greatly disturbed by the censored news clips, even though I had envisions of a “proper beheading ” (meaning swift and humane if you can call one that) upon hearing their descriptions. In seeing the video Nick wasn’t beheaded, but literally had his head sawed off while he was alive; in that I have seen the enemy for whom he is; I am now disgusted. If a picture is worth a thousand words then video is priceless. Freakhole.com has it streaming along with the Russian clip
I want to keep this GQ, but in general I would say that thee video demonstrates just how ruthless a foe that we face. Furthermore, we must persist (albeit we should be going about things better in Iraq in my opinion), not just for the benefit of Americans, but also for the Iraqi people in general. No people should have to live under the tyranny that is rampant in the Middle East. Unfortunately, some of our Middle East allies (ie Egypt, Pakistan for instancea) also inflict these torture, like methods upon their people. In addition, this video demonstrates how we must strive NOT to be that way ourselves. That process starts with swift, harsh, justice (if it was up to me that would be field court marshalls and firing squads) for the American soldiers (and their commanders) who partitipated in the abuse of the Iraqi prisoners. As for Al Qaida, I would pull a trick out of the Mossad play book utilized on Nazi war criminals on the lam after WWII. I would form an elite squad (in this case consisting of hand selected SEAL’s, Delta Force, Green Beret, PJ’s, and SAS, CIA ect) they would have covert permission to enter the territory of any of our allies to apprehend or otherwise elminate these criminals. In the case of nations like Syria, and Iran where permission would not be granted (although even there it might on a back channel basis if the incentives were sufficient) they would infiltrate covertly. They would be backed up by the best technology (and since I am one who subscribes to the paranormal as a possibility I would also utilize remote viewers, psychics, and even voodoo priests to assist them). We may not catch every target, but their nights would be long, and they would find no rest.
During the French Revolution, many people were executed by guillotine. There have been reports from spectators that sometimes heads on the ground would blink their eyes, or perform other facial expressions. Sometimes this went on for up to 20 minutes after the decapitation.
This has been variously addressed. The most standard response from medical professionals is that muscles continue to spasm after death - much like a headless chook continues to run around. Even if there was consciousness (doubtful), there should be no pain.
More adventurous responses claim the consciousness is still somewhat in tact and aware of the surroundings, though unable to communicate in any way. This is scorned by most.
Whatever is correct, nobody has survived a decapitation to report back…
The following post contains extremely graphic descriptions of the events and timing in the video. I have enclosed it in spoiler tags so that those who wish to read it may, and those that do not can avoid it. Timing is complicated by the fact that the audio and video are out of synch in my copy of the video:The time from the first cut to when his head was seperated from his body was 40 seconds (4:37 to 5:17) . He screams for approximately 15 seconds, and sounds that might be gurgling continue for a further 5 seconds. His mouth opens then closes after 33 seconds (5:10), but this may be due to the movement of the knife in his neck. The russian video mentioned above is called the “Ofex” video. In this movie, a Russian soldier is executed by Chechen rebels after reportedly being caught raping Chechen women. He is clearly alive, conscious, and struggling for a period of several minutes while a Chechen saws at his neck with what is apparently a very dull sword, after shooting him in the shoulder with a handgun. I can say with no reservations that this video is the most horrible thing I have ever seen in my life.
