How long do things last in your household?

In the casa de misstee and stormchaser, we have three kids full time and two kids every other weekend. We consume a lot.

Milk: A gallon a day
Bread: A loaf and a half a week
Dish soap: a large bottle of dawn lasts a long time, cascade on the other hand, we use a lot of
Toothpaste: About a month. We also buy new toothbrushes about every month
Shampoo/Conditioner: for me-- about a month ( I have very long hair) the kids use about one a month, stormchaser can use the same bottle of shampoo for about three months.
Butter: we use way to much butter for our health. a big pound container only lasts us about a month, maybe three weeks
Cheese: Having kids, we try to keep cheese around for snacks. String cheese, cheese bricks for cheese and crackers, sliced cheese for sandwiches,
Cereal: we go through about a bag of cereal a week.
TP: about a roll a day

It’s Mr. TeaElle and myself, our 18 month old daughter and our infant son who is not yet eating solids. We also have Spunky the Bichon Frise and Auric the Goldfish.

Milk: We use soymilk and only for cereal and in recipes, so a quart lasts about two weeks.

Bread: I make my own so it’s always fresh and at a lot of meals, warm right from the oven when we eat it so we eat a lot of it. A one pound loaf lasts about three days, a half pound loaf only lasts about a day.

Paper towels: I use reusable Handi-Wipe type rags for a lot of things that would normally be done with paper towels, so a roll generally lasts a month at the very least. I really hate using stuff that gets thrown away.

Dish soap: We buy large sized bottles at Costco and one generally lasts a year, since we only handwash our pots and pans and other things which can’t go into the dishwasher.

Toothpaste: Mr. TeaElle and I each have our own, a tube lasts me about 3 months or so. I brush my teeth obsessively (four times daily) so I go through a lot.

Shampoo/Conditioner: Shampoo lasts longer than conditioner for me, my hair is really dry and needs a lot of conditioning. Shampoo lasts maybe three months, conditioner lasts maybe six weeks.

Butter: About half a pound a month of the type we use daily (whipped/unsalted) and more, of course, if I bake, but that’s a different kind (salted regular).

Cheese: We’re ovo-lacto vegetarians and cheese is a staple of our diets. We eat a lot of different varieties and generally buy two or three pounds every ten days or so, though there’s overlap, we don’t necessarily use all that we have before we buy more.

Toilet paper: One regular roll every week or so, but I try to buy the double-sized rolls just because Mr. TeaElle is oddly incapable of changing the #*$&%!@ things and I don’t need to have to worry about doing that every single week.

Cereal: We don’t eat the cold stuff but we do eat oatmeal, a one pound canister lasts about two months in the spring/summer months, one month in the fall/winter.

Coffee: We buy by the pound, one pound at a time, maybe two if we want a couple of different varieties. A pound lasts about 8 days.

Adding my categories:
Laundry detergent: I make my own because Mr. TeaElle is allergic to most commercial brands. One batch is about 10 gallons, and that lasts more than three months, though I average ten loads a week because I use cloth diapers.

Body Lotion: I am the queen of lotion. Either that or my skin is just bone dry. A 16 ounce bottle lasts about six weeks, tops.

Two bedroom townhouse, with FilmGeek, Ardred (as I will henceforth refer to the SO) two cats and a dog.

-Milk: 1-2 gallons a week. I don’t drink it much, just Ardred.
-Bread: 2 loaves a week, usually potato bread, and various rolls (we bought hoagie rolls for lunch today for example)
-Paper towels: Four rolls a month or so.
-Dish soap: 1 large bottle lasts two to three months.
-Laundry Detergent: 2 medium sized bottles a month… when I get around to doing laundry.
-Toothpaste: About a tube a month. We share.
-Shampoo/Conditioner/shower soap: Shampoo: Two bottles a month (one each). One bottle of conditioner (Ardred only) and one bottle of shower gel for me and one or two bars for him.
-Butter: a five pound bucket of margarine lasts us about a month and a half
-Cheese: Sliced: hardly ever. Shredded: three pounds lasts a week, but only because we get on a kick of making quesadillas. Then we’ll go three weeks without. Brick: depends on what’s on the menu.
-Toilet paper: two bathrooms (and a kitten) means two to four rolls a month.
-Cereal: a box of grapenuts (mmmm, grapenuts) lasts us two months.
-Mayo: I mention this because we can eat a gallon of mayo a month. We were on a tuna salad kick for awhile and ate a huge Sam’s club jar.
-Coffee: we don’t drink coffee but rarely.
-Soda: two to three cases a week unless we’re roleplaying, then it’s at least a case that day plus our regular stash. we’re sick, really.
-Beer/Liquor: Ardred works at a liquor store with a fantastic discount. I usually have a six pack of Guinness in the fridge and random other beer (this week it’s a twelve pack of Boulevard (KC brand) Pale Ale. Liquor: we usually have at least four bottles of various hard liquors in differing states of consumption. Every few months, Ardred finishes off the bits in all the bottles and we splurge on something new.
-pet food: 50 pounds lasts six months for the dog and 10 lasts three for the cats.

Milk: I buy half-gallons of milk, and I’m thrilled if I manage to finish it before it goes bad - that only happens if I make biscuits, drink lots of coffee and drink some with a couple of meals.

Bread: It varies, but probably about a week.

Paper towels: One roll a week, about.

Dish soap: Three months, probably. I do have a dishwasher, but I don’t use it. By hand is just as easy with only one person.

Toothpaste: Probably six months: paste in a tube for me.

Shampoo/Conditioner: I buy big bottles, so easily 3+ months.

Butter: I buy a pound about every other month.

Cheese: About a week or so, depening on what kind I’ve bought.

Bacon: Bacon is evil. I’m only allowed to buy bacon once a month (allowed by myself) because I will have it for breakfast, then nibble on it all day until I’ve eaten the whole pound by myself.

And to add an item:

Toilet paper: I buy the 24 pack, and usually buy another about six weeks later.
I live alone, one bedroom apartment.

I live with three dogs, one cat and a fish. In a house.

Milk - a gallon every two weeks

Paper towels - 2 rolls will last 4 months, at least.

Dish soap - one large bottle lasts a year. (I’m the queen of paper plates)

Toothpaste - one large tube will last 6 months.

Shampoo - a large bottle will last six months. I have short hair and wash it every day.

Butter - I only buy margerine when I bake.

Bread - I usually bake what I need, but I don’t eat much bread. Say 1 loaf a month.

Cheese - A half-pound block of cheddar a month.

Bacon - I love it, but rarely buy it. I probably buy 2 pounds a year.

Toilet Paper - I roll per month.

Dog food - 50 lbs every two weeks.

Cat Food - 10 lb bags lasts for months

Fish food - Poor Bloob has been eating the same food for two years and I’ve barely made a dent in it. Do fish get bored?
