Two weeks ago I drove for about 30 miles on a dirt road…it goes over a pass near my home. It is a state road that starts being paved, then switches to dirt/rocks/ruts/washboard and stays that way for almost all of its length.
I was on a botanical field trip and saw several species that I’ve never seen before. This area is within 10 miles of my house where I’ve lived for a decade.
About 8 years. Not because there aren’t a few around here, but because I don’t drive much, and, when I do, I stick with the big roads, even if it is slower.
6 days ago. My rig is down 21 miles of dirt road with one “dry” lake and “dry” wash on it. I drive out to it about once a week. Two of my friends live down long streatchs of dirt roads so those are proabably biweekly and we’re talking about going jeeping in Moab this weekend.
I’ll add another voice to the crowd saying not a fine enough poll.
Colorado has a ton of unpaved roads. It can be -20° and 50° within a matter of days and that is hell on pavement. Oftentimes, in the country, the paved parts of the road are worse than the dirt - big cracks, potholes, etc.
