# how long is it normal for my ears to hurt?

Okay, I got my ears pierced at about 1 this afternoon. It’s currently 9 and they’re still sore and a little puffy. The sheet that I got says not to worry unless it stays this way for more than 24 hours, so I’m just wondering how much longer to expect. It’s been a long time since the last time I got them pierced, so I forget what’s normal and what’s “these earrings aren’t as hypoallergenic as they said they were”.

I had my ears pierced my ears 12 years ago and they are still sore and a little puffy when I wear earings.

I recall having trouble sleeping on my ears both times I got them pierced, and I’m sure I got them pierced in the afternoon. Give 'em time.

Don’t be too reliant on “hypo-allergenic” claims. Just get gold posts (18K, not plated), and you can save yourself a world of the discomfort that surgical steel would provide.

That’s helpful _now_. :rolleyes:

I’ve had problems with gold before, actually, so i try to avoid it. Not to mention that I just don’t like the stuff. I forget what I got… But it’s one of those metals with the impressive sounding names that aren’t supposed to make my ears all swollen.
