It would drive a lot of religions crazy. How would they respond? Some would try to lay claim to them by saying they were the second coming, some would say the aliens were the devil and the end was nigh.
I believe religious people would have the hardest time accepting the visitors.
I suspect about a third of the global population would believe it was a hoax.
If we’re talking the Marvel universe, aliens invading are hardly the strangest thing people have seen recently. Magic, mutants, supertech, gods from other dimensions… aliens would hardly seem unusual to me. Thor himself is already alien enough for me to think someone merely from another planet is pretty ordinary.
In that context, the alien invasion in the Avengers movies would seem to me more like the 9/11 terror attacks. Even if you personally thought about it everyday, it wouldn’t be a daily conversation piece with other people for very long except when it touched on a related issue.
Eh, they stopped doing this. All they learned was that one in ten really didn’t mind.
I’m picturing that guy with poofy hair and raised hands with the caption “totally not aliens”.
