That said, the scale of war crimes committed by the Axis powers during WWII were many orders of magnitude greater than those committed by the Allies, war crimes by the Allies fall more into the category of what normally happens in the horrors of war, while Axis crimes are what one might come up with after staring into the pit of hell for a very long time.

This is clearly the case for the US and British but it does get a little messier with the Soviets.

The Red Army engaged in methodical rape of German women and girls, with estimates of up to 2 million victims, with some being raped scores of times.

The Soviets also committed other war crimes against the Axis armies and civilians as well, but both they and the Chinese did a lot of terrible things to their own people.
