Only 16 - Allentown, PA Hanover, PA Rochester, NY Creve Coeur, MO Timonium, MD Bedford, NH Wellesley, MA Boston, MA Arlington, VA Cambridge, MA Somerville, MA Waltham, MA Kolonia, Pohnpei, FSM Jakarta, Indonesia Maputo, Mozambique Cairo, Egypt I’ve had a lot more addresses than that, though. For example, I lived at two different places in Cairo and four in Jakarta. ---

By metropolitan areas, 6. By municipalities, 11 The first would count Newark, NJ and Stamford, CT are in the same NYC metro area. The second would count them as two. The total number of “permanent” addresses I have had is 23. That doesn’t count the three occasions when I was relocating and had temporary housing provided by my employer for 2-3 months. ---

Joliet, IL (born, lived 2 years) 1 address Atlanta, GA (moved in '69, stayed until 1999 (with interruptions))\* Statesboro, GA (college, met my (to-be) wife) 5+ addresses Athens, GA (college, Laura transferred with me) 4+ addresses Knoxville, TN ('99-'09) 2 addresses San Antonio, TX ('09-???) 2 addresses \*In Atlanta I lived, and had mailing addresses in the following cities: Tucker (lived in 2 homes in Tucker, next door to each other. Lost the lease in one, moved next door which was available.) Decatur Stone Mountain/Smoke Rise Snellville Lawrenceville (a home (with my parents) and an apartment (with Laura), separated by about 3 years) Chamblee Flowery Branch So, 6 cities and 21 addresses. In addition I used to stay at my grandparents in Daytona Beach, FL every summer and I’m quite positive that the total time spent there totalled 18 months of my life, so that makes 7 cities and 22 addresses. ---

Define “city” and define “permanent address”. According to most people, Madrid is a city. According to the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, you must report an address of record if you’re staying in one place for 30 days or more. According to the above, I lived in Madrid. But Madrid is legally a “village” (seriously) and while I stayed there for several months, my address for taxation purposes has been the same two for most of my life, including the years I was in college in Barcelona… for voting purposes, it was the same for 20 years and has only recently moved to a village.
