How many coffee-making devices do you possess?

One in total. Only had that one, ever. It is for the guests, husband and I don’t drink coffee at home.

I used to have gazillion kinds of tea. But now I have a box of fashionable teas for guests, and I only drink one brand of loose leaf tea, as I have for ten years.

The brand I have stuck with for years now is something I discovered by accident! I bought a large pack of cheap tea at the Turkish ethnic store for some purpose, and then discovered it tasted superb. Soft, raisiny, strong but not bitter. It’s only large leaves (no tea dust) and I put my leaves loose in my glass or pot. And I can’t believe how cheap it is. Turkish Defne Ceylon Black Tea.

Hmm, I’m going to make me a pot now. So…have I found my brand, or have I just become boring?

8-serving Chemex, single-serve Keurig, 2-serving Melitta cone.

Yes, there are two adults in this household

Lessee…
4 cup Bodum French press
1 cup no-name French press

2 cup Bialetti Brikka
6 cup Bialetti Musa
4 cup Bialetti Mukka

Aerobie Aeropress

Chemex pourover (~8 cup?)

And I was bought a glass vacpot as a Christmas present, but it hasn’t arrived yet.

The Aeropress and 1-cup French press get the most use, because I’m usually just making myself a single cup. In both cases, they fill my mug about 2/3s. I add a pinch of raw sugar, swirl lightly to combine, and then top up with hot water. Perfect!

The Brikka makes great strong near-espresso, but it’s a bit more hassle and I don’t always have coffee that pairs well with it.

The Chemex is mostly for when I’m making a big pot when guests are over, but I want to get myself a smaller one because I really like the coffee it produces.

Forgot To Mention the two French presses that I (personally) never use.

I like boiling up the water in a tea kettle & pouring through the Chemex. We make “7” “cups” for the two of us in the a.m. Takes about 25 minutes. Smells yummy! Of course it helps to have a world class coffee roaster down the road: Green Tree

French press (now used for cold brew), Keurig, Moka pot (retired)

Before I got the Keurig I used the French press for my morning cup and the Moka pot for during the day. Since the refillable pod for the Keurig is closer to the Moka pot end of the ease of cleaning scale than the French press end, I use the Keurig for both. But the French press is really the best way to cold brew coffee. I may get a bigger one for that and retire the current one.

I have a couple of French presses, a stove top espresso maker and a drip coffee maker. The one I use most frequently is a stainless steel French press.

I was actually thinking about taking pictures of my various coffee makers, more for insurance purposes than anything else. Let me see if I can stop procrastinating and get some pics taken. Hopefully some of the more subtle details won’t wash out in the picture.

Ummm…you paid $3,800 for an espresso machine for home use? I humbly bow in deep reverence and awe-inspiring spectacle of your excess.

<Thelma presses forehead to the ground, and whispers wow …>

Not boring. We spend our lives looking for the perfect cup of coffee or tea. You found it. It gives the rest of us hope.

Ohboyohboyohboy… can’t wait to see them.

Forget those pics of the kids and pets in front of the fireplace, use THESE for your Christmas cards.

If you make the pictures big enough (in file size), some of us <ahem> might want to use them for wallpaper…

I just have the one French press. I used to be a barista, and had an espresso machine, a drip machine, a couple grinders, blah blah. When I moved almost three years ago, I purged 5 dumpsters of stuff from the old place and the coffee paraphernalia was part of it. I also have a manual burr grinder that I love, but would never grind anything smaller than French press with it, I’d be turning that handle all day!

1qt saucepan to heat water and a french press.

1 French press (gathering dust, never happy with the results)
2 x stovetop espresso pots (used when camping or when we go to the in-laws and can’t lower ourselves to instant coffee)
1 x cheapo filter coffee maker. £15 from Tesco but it makes a decent cup and has a timer so I can set it up the night before and it’ll be ready when we wake. We use this regularly, mostly when we are going to be around all morning and when plenty of coffee to keep us going.

Finally, our favourite and the one that gets most use is our classic Gaggia
we’ve had it about 8 years it gets used every day and it doesn’t miss a beat. We’ve settled on a two good brands of coffee (Illy and cafe direct) that give a great result.

•Fresh Roast-8 for roasting.
•Cuisinart burr grinder (really need to replace that - it just can’t get a fine enough ground when I need it)
•Cuisinart drip coffee maker (can’t even remember the last time I used it, although it’s a decent enough drip maker)
•Aeropress
•Hario V60
•Chemex
•Clever Dripper
•French Press

Of these, the Aeropress and Hario get the most use, but I love the Chemex as well.

I have [ol]
[li]an electric drip coffee maker that has a built-in timer[/li][li]a French press[/li][li]a small, stainless steel espresso pot[/li][li]a couple of drip thingies that go on top of a mug[/li][/ol]

We have two. A Mr. Coffee drip maker, and a stovetop camping percolator. We don’t go camping anymore, but if the electricity goes out, we can still make coffee.

Four coffee making devices… Two Bialetti stovetop pots - a 6 cup and a 12 cup. The 12 cup is excellent for taking camping. A stainless steel 6 cup pot that I finally wore out a few months ago that we bought in Rome in 2000 before we came back to the states.

And if more than one person is drinking coffee we have a drip coffee maker, don’t remember the maker.

We have a 12-cup Black & Decker drip coffeemaker and a 10-cup Mr. Coffee one (that’s for the occasions when the bigger one fails). There are only two of us drinking coffee, but we do love it.

I have a Breville semi-automatic espresso maker. It’s great. Unfortunately my wife wrecked the bean grinder but it still beats Starbucks.

2 moka pots, and a melita filter drip

I only was able to take three pictures before the battery in my camera died, but here’s a start:
Five pots (Actually, one vacuum pot, two moka pots, and two percolators. The percolators are identical in everything but size - the one on the right is a slightly smaller version.)
Percolator This is the larger of the two percolators. The bit on the bottom of the handle that looks like it’s been chewed is actually melted.
Percolator with a decorative etched/engraved band. If you zoom in, you can see the pattern better.

I’ll add more pics once the camera battery charges back up, and as time permits. (There’s six more that I have out at the moment.)
