How many days a week do you drive?

Average of 6. 5 days for work and one day on the weekend for errands. I like to reserve one day exclusively for chilling around the house.

I interpreted it as “on average, on how many days a week do you any driving at all, regardless of how short a distance”, so went for 2. Almost always to the local shops on a Saturday morning (maybe 1 or 2 km), and around once a week elsewhere - visiting a friend or relative, or going to some unusual store.

Zero. I haven’t driven since 2008, generally Monday to Friday I walk everywhere I need to go (okay, maybe the train into the centre of the city once in a while), and get lifts from my sister at the weekend if we’re going anywhere further afield.

Where’s the zero option? Or at least the <1 option? On average, in a year, my estimate of the number of days I drive would be somewhere around 10. So about 1/5 of a day per week, averaging it out.

Pretty much every day. No public transport where I live.

Zero. Live in the city, don’t own a car. Borrow my brother’s from time to time, but that’s once or twice a month, so I’d round down – if zero were an option, which it isn’t.

Public transpo in my city is next to useless, although I’ve slogged through it from time to time. But my parents live in the next state over, my sister lives 30 miles north of me, my kids live 30 miles west of me, and work is ten miles from my house. Pretty much the only days I don’t drive is if I’m sick for the day.

Seven. At least.

I voted “7”, but five of those days I drive remarkably little; only to and from the office, and my office is only four miles away from my house. I’d walk or ride a bicycle, but there are no sidewalks or bike lanes for over half of that distance. I tried riding my bike to work one time but had to give up halfway and have my wife come pick me up.

There’s really no other option around here if somethings not within walking distance. I’m lucky to have a shopping mall very near to me, but if I want to go anywhere else, I need a car.

  1. No license, no car, great buses.
  1. No buses, and sprawl to such an extent that getting anywhere on foot is really out of the question.

I used to drive five days a week to work. Plus I’d usually drive around doing errands on at least one of my days off each week.

But now I’m retired so I do less driving. I’d say I average around three days a week.

  1. NYC, of course.

Used to be about once a week, but we were already thinking of selling the car due to disuse and inconvenience, when it was conveniently totalled in a freak tornado. That was two years ago. We’re both licensed, and since then we’ve used Zipcar 3 times.

When I lived in a very rural area on a horse farm is when I drove second-least. It was such a committment in gas & time just to go to town, I would batch my errands and really only leave the farm 1-2 times a week. If I forgot something most of the time I’d just make do. Without kids or an off-the-farm job, I really didn’t need to be anywhere else.

Zero, on average - although I have a licence for a car and motorcycle I don’t own either. Train station is 5 minutes walk from here, trains to the city run every 15 minutes. That’s all I need for most things.

No “zero” option. Schoolboy error.

I drive on all days of the week.

I know, how many days per week. On average I would say 6.99 days per week.

Zero.

I live in the suburbs; the closest commercial establishment to me is a Dunkin Donuts 1.5 miles away. There is the very occasional Saturday when I might not leave the house, but otherwise I have to drive if I want to go anywhere other than to visit my neighbors.

Hence people giving answers that are more than zero (in the postings, not the poll :smack:;)) but less than five or seven. :stuck_out_tongue:
