Oh definitely use a compact fluorescent bulb–just so you don’t have to change the bulb for years and years. I used ones that said 9 years on the package for the pesky kitchen fixture. By that time I’ll be so old I’ll have to have someone else get up there to change it for me. Or I won’t care… ---
