Is is possible to find out? I see from [this earlier thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=143955&highlight=online) that the functionality to do so did once exist. At very slow times such as this (4.50pm Friday in Sydney) I sometimes wonder whether there’s more than just a handful of people online.

The functionality does indeed exist in vBulletin. The admins have chosen not to enable it.
