10-25 a year, usually near the high end of that. I’ll see easily a dozen movies over the course of the summer season, and another 5-10 across the rest of the year. We live less than half a mile from a 12-screen multiplex with an IMAX screen. For everything but the dead of winter we’ll just walk over. We both really like a good movie, and it’s easy, cheap, mindless entertainment for when we just need to relax a bit.
I should also note that all but one or two movies that we go to in any given year will be either the middle of the day on a weekday that we both have off, or (most commonly) the last matinee of the day on a Saturday. Whether it’s the times we frequent or whatever else, we have maybe one or two bad “theater experiences” a year, at most.
I have a pretty nice HDTV and surround system, and we watch plenty of movies on that too, but there’s still something cool about seeing a movie in the theater.
