I guess this is a poll, so here we are in IMHO. My daughter’s favorite matching game features Dr. Seuss characters. I know quite a few of them, but not nearly all. And, since there’s no way to effectively google who’s on what card, and because it’s always fun for dopers to show off how smart they are, I thought I’d do a little quiz. Try and name as many as you can by just hitting respond before reading ahead. So, Here’s where we’re at. I stole Cliffy’s format since it allows the most room. It’s a bit confusing since the columns refer to rows, but the alphanumeric code matches up. A1: Horton B1: The Grinch C1: Mayor of Whoville D1: The Thing that can Sing a Long Long Song E1: The guy who won’t try green eggs & ham A2: Unknown - Suggested that it’s Fox in Socks. But, he’s not red and doesn’t have Socks. B2: Pup in Cup C2: The Yink Who likes to drink pink ink D2: New Fish E2: “Oh the places you’ll go” Kid A3: Sheep who walk all night B3: Sneetches C3: Marvin K. Mooney D3: Cat in the Hat E3: The hopped-on Pop and the kids who like to hop on him A4: Things 1 & 2 B4: Snotty kangroo and the little one saying “me too” C4: One Hump Whump D4: Pat who sat E4: ? A5: Mack - I don’t think it’s Yertle the Turtle, but the plain turtle from that story B5: Max C5: The Fish from Cat in the Hat D5: Blue fish E5: Red fish A6: The Lorax B6: Sue (from fox in socks). C6: ? D6:Guy from Boom band E6: Mr. & Mrs. Brown A7: Cindy Lou Who - there seems to be a concensus on this, I didn’t think it was her because she clearly appears to be “more than two” years old. Row 8: Two Stubborn Zax Some of these I’m just taking other’s words on. Some I’ve been able to research since it’s easy to google a name and verify it. But, feel free to make any corrections. I RECOGNIZE almost all of them of them, but can only name about 2/3 of them. See, it’s EASY to name the ones who are the primary characters (or among the primary characters) in a Seuss classic. But a lot of the ones in this puzzle are characters who appear for a page or two in\*\*\* Hop on Pop \*\*\*or _ **The Fox in Socks.** _ or some such book. It’s very easy to remember Horton or the Lorax or the Grinch… but harder to remember the names of, say, Sue (who sews socks), or the Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz, or Slow Joe Crow or Mr. Brown or… ---

Like Sue for example. Sure, she had a couple of pages in Fox in Socks, but what about Knox? Or the Tweedle Beetles? They had a much larger presence. Even the Goo Goose was cooler than Sue! ---

I’m invoking my right to one gratuitous bump. Looks like A2: dog/fox/wolf thing, E4: Trombone in a tuba(brassception?), C6: bum in a bowtie, and E7: Elephants waving flags are still unknown. Any ideas? Let me know if you recognize the story that any of them come from - I can work some google-fu from there. ---
