How many of you are there?

They say there are no people in the US with my last name. Strange, considering that my family first settled in Iowa in 1845.

Already a thread on this here, started on Tuesday. :frowning:

85 of me.

Apparently I don’t exist. I like that.

I call BS. It seems like the computer just multiplies the likelihoods for first and last names.

Since first and last names are not independent, it screws things up.

If you do searches for names like “Mohammed Chen” “Juan Wang” “Yolanda Shapiro,” and “Leticia Goldstein” it would appear to overestimate the occurence of these combinations.

According to it, there are 1,575,619 people with my first name, 81,969 with my second, 425 with both.

Another one and only! Maiden and married name.

More than 5 million with my first name, about 2500 with the last.

39 of me.

According to this site I don’t exist, which is probably because I legally changed my name when I was 30 and made up the last name. To the best of my knowledge I am the only person in the US (and possibly the world) now using it. If they’re basing on the 1990 census, then there should have been two listings for it (my late wife and myself) but apparently this is not a significant enough number to show up on their radar.

If I put in my first and married name, there are 5 of me.

If I use my whole name–First Maiden Last–I’m the one and only.

Birth name - 82
Married name - 1,138

I admit, I thought there’d be more, as all three names are very common.

There are zero people with my last name in the USA. Except that I am in the US, as are my husband, children, and in-laws. My maiden names gives up 12 of me. My married name is very rare outside of Germany. Googling it will bring you directly to my door.

I am one of 85 people. Damn and I thought I was original.

I put in my mother’s current name. Apparently she doesn’t exist.

The site says that there are zero people in the States with my last name – trouble is, there’s a whole clan of people living in California and other states with my surname (which came from there, via my mum marrying an American serviceman in '45).

My first name, the full version of Elisabeth, ranks 975th in the database. Uncommon enough for me.

There’s only one of me. That may bee one too many.

Am I the least interestingly named person on this thread? The site claims there are 1,689 people with my name.

Actually, that seems low to me. My real name is not a secret, incidentally, precisely because it is so common that knowing it alone won’t really help anyone identify me. It is Paul Murphy. I’d have guessed there were many more people in the US with that name.

Apparently, I, too, do not exist.

Well… I never knew.

Wait, who said that?

I’m gonna go with brazil84 on this one.

So … you’re an undocumented alien, eh?

There are 700 of me in the USA.

2,591,120 with my first name, 81,969 with my last name.

It says there’s no one of my last name in the U.S., which I know to be horsefeathers. I can think of at least nine off the top of my head, and that’s just immediate family.
