There’s only a handful of people at work that I don’t care for. I work at a public library that has roughly 120 people on staff. In my department (Adult Services) there are 19 of us. I like and get along with everyone. They are a fun, smart and interesting group. I have at least four coworkers that I am particularly close to that I know quite well - all from different departments. There is one person in particular that knows…um…every inch of me, and vice versa. I happen to love him. He’s my sweetie. I like my coworkers enough to go in on my day off, and help celebrate a special occasion. Tomorrow one of my good friends/coworkers is turning 60 years old. We are surprising her with a potluck at work.

I’ve worked as a freelancer exclusively for one company for the past seven years, and in that time, I’ve met my co-workers in person exactly once. But we’re very friendly over the phone.

I hope it does.

Several of the people who I really enjoyed being around have moved on. (I’m looking at _ **you** _, TZ, Charlene, and Stacy!)

The remaining folks are generally non-American and 20 years younger than I am. I like them but we don’t click on the stuff you break the ice about at the office.

There are a couple of people who I can chit-chat with, but no friends. It was a little sad the day I noticed that.

However, I \*really \*like what I’m doing, and I’d rather have that than an office full of friends and a shitty job and work environment!

Ditto. I talk to four or five former co-workers on a regular basis. We bonded over a crazy boss and some shared experiences outside of work, and now we stay in touch both socially and professionally (we all help out when someone needs a new job).

Racist, sexist, ignorant Midwesterners. Even the ones who moved here from California, who you’d think would know better. Guys who think the way to maintain a happy marriage is to belittle their wives. Telling hateful, racist jokes about black people being murdered. Being a bunch of gibbering idiots who can barely manage to tie their shoes in the morning. Not being able to do their jobs so I have to clean up after them every damn day. Hate them all.

Upper management sucks donkey droppings, but my co-workers and my immediate supervisors are all really good people.

Oh. I should say, management here is generally great. It’s the people I interact with on a day-to-day basis who make me want to smack people with keyboards.

I like my coworkers but I am absolutely particular about not hanging out with them and I really don’t get why anyone would want to. You already spend 490\* hours a week with them!

\*It was a typo but I decided to keep it because it expressed the right spirit.

These pretty much sum it up for me. I picked option 2, but reality is closer to 2.5 (somewhere between 2 and 3)

I didn’t vote since I’m past my working years, but I rarely socialized with my coworkers. Many I liked just fine, some I tolerated, a few needed to be abducted by aliens, but in general, I got along with just about all of them. But there were very few over the years with whom I socialized outside of work.

When we were permitted flex time, I’d start at 6AM and I’d be leaving hours before some of my coworkers, so hanging out after work wasn’t an option. Plus I had a family to tend to. And in the last job, I was old enough to be mother to most of my coworkers, so apart from work, we had nothing in common. Geography was also an issue - I lived about 25 miles south of where I worked, and most of my coworkers lived to the north. Any gathering outside of work would require me to drive a long way including a toll bridge. The few times I did, it was just meh.

So except for 1 or 2 people, I don’t even miss 'em.

I think that they are fine people and I like them very much. Few of us socialize extensively outside of work, though. Over the summer break, I may not see any of them at all.

I get along well enough with my crew, but we do not have much in common. With one exception, I have been working for the company since well before they were all born. The one exception is twenty years younger than I.

Wa-hey, that sounds like the people I work with, except instead of “the blacks” it’s “the gays”.

Well, let’s say the office folk are as described above. The production folks are completely nice down-to-earth people that I chat with when we have a little downtime. 90% of my daily interaction is with the office folk though, so…

I like my immediate coworkers and we get along great, although we’ve never socialized outside of work. But the day shifters that we take over for are a bunch of assholes and punks who act like (at best) three-year-olds. I can barely tolerate the 15 minutes we have to be around them before they clock out. If management tried to make me go on days, I’d quit instantly.

Everyone working at my location is great. I’ve been camping with a couple of them several times and not too long ago drove several hours to attend the wedding of one who had moved away. When I complain about my department in workplace griping it’s always about some new insanity perpetrated by the corporate level. There are idiots there that I wouldn’t piss on if they were on fire.

Weather cooperating, the local bunch is heading out for an afternoon of paintball this weekend. 🙂

I like Most of my co-workers, and am sometimes exasperated with most of them. But I don’t socialize with them.

Some of my co-workers are friends with each other, which occasionally leads to the too much information syndrome-- as in, it’s one thing to speculate that Person A stayed out too late and got drunk and therefore isn’t coming in on Sunday morning, and another to KNOW
