Three of my best friends were my best friends in high school, and I still see another half dozen or so regularly as well. I got lucky and knew some really awesome people during high school (probably why I don’t really have the stereotypical horrible memories of the period).

One, kinda sorta.
Actually, he was never a high school classmate, as we didn’t even go to the same school. We went to junior high together, but were in different grades. We were friends until I went off to college.
It’s funny, he was a bad kid when I knew him. He’d been arrested more than ten times, he ran away from home for an extended period, he was a pretty heavy drug user – he was just a bad apple.
He found me through Facebook a couple of months ago. He updated me on his life – he went to seminary, travelled the world doing missionary work, married a nice woman that he met in church, recently had a kid, and now does charity work with the deaf.
He told me that if I was ever in NYC to tell him, and that he and his wife would be happy to put me up so I wouldn’t have to pay for a hotel. The funny thing was, at that time I was planning a trip there, but my time was very limited and I wouldn’t be able to socialize, like at all. I didn’t want to say that I was going to be there but could hang out, so I just didn’t mention the trip at all.
I feel kind of bad about that.

I have 5 very close, dear friends that I keep in touch with on a regular basis. Those of us here in the area get together at least once a year…this year we will see each other 6 (!) times in one year, due to daughters’ weddings and showers and the 35th class reunion, which was a few weeks ago. Then there are about 5 other classmates who still go to my church or live in the area that I see on a fairly regular basis in passing…we don’t get together for anything but the reunion. And since we organized the reunion on facebook, I now am in contact with about 30 other classmates who post regularly, and through that connection I have found someone to do the flowers for my daughter’s wedding.

A few. I teach with one, and a couple of others teach at the next high school to the west. Two others have been part of my annual Thanksgiving camping trip for the last 25+ years, and I am still in semi-regular contact with my high school girlfriend, who teaches at Texas A&M. I’ve never made any particular effort to contact any of the rest of them, or bother going to any of the reunions.

Class of '72 - there were about 850 of us. I exchange emails with 3. I went to one reunion and talked with the same 3. The few I am curious about don’t appear to be google-able and I dumped my Facebook account because I got sick of the partisan politics and glurge.
From college - 1 - I still see him and his wife on rare occasions.
From my Navy days - 2 - 1 by email, one lives close enough that we could get together if we tried. But we don’t.
Obviously, I didn’t make any lasting friendships…

I have less than 10 I’m connected with on LinkedIn, but as far as people I actually keep in touch with periodically (say, at least twice a year)–less than 5. In fact, I’m more consistently in touch with friends from elementary school than high school (and that’s not saying much, either).

I did hear a name from high school recently, that he is a lawyer for a new client. But other than that, they can all roast in Hell. No, high school was not a pleasant experience.

None. I moved around a lot, went to a lot of different shools and never really had a hometown. The high school I graduated from was a private American School in Monrovia, Liberia which no longer exists. I barely even knew anyone in my own class, since they were mostly non-American.
I never kept in touch with anybody I ever went to school with at any grade or level, not even college. I always moved away.

Thoroughly enjoyed my high school years and made many friends. Worked in that same neighborhood for the last 15 years. And the total is…zero. I had only even seen three of them between the beginning of college and my 20-year reunion.
To me, Facebook doesn’t count unless you regularly communicate above and beyond the reading the mundane everyday goings-on.
College friends? See 'em all the time. My college XC team basically has a reunion at every local HS meet as most of us became teachers/coaches.

My best friend from Jr High/High School just asked to be my friend on FB last week, but no messages have been exchanged. I have another friend I exchange email with from time to time, but he wasn’t in my class, he was a year ahead. We were in marching band class together (about 30 people altogether), and we’ve been exchanging emails for about 10 years.

About ten. Interestingly one of them lives very close to me. Went to high school in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and now live in Phoenix, AZ.

None. My high school graduation was longer ago than most of you have been alive, and I only know what became of one person (he’s a world-renowned brain surgeon).
