I had one person on my ignore list for a day, but I was so intensely curious about what idiocy they were spouting that I had to take him off. ---

What exactly does the SDMB Ignore List do? If I put someone here on my Ignore List, does that mean his posts will be invisible to me? Or just his OPs? Or is it something else entirely? ---

Woah. I just checked, and was surprised to find that I have _13_ people on my ignore list. Most of them have been banned by now, though. ---

I’m joining **Loopus** as an outlier. I have a dozen, about half of whom have been banned. I have found it to create a remarkable improvement in my SDMB experience. ---

I don’t have anyone on my ignore list. I didn’t know we had an ignore list. Er, but I have someone on my buddy list. I have no idea how I managed that. And I don’t think the buddy list seems to do anything, since I’ve seen posts by that person without any sort of flashing lights or “Born Free” coming over my speakers or anything. ---

Sometimes it does feel like everyone has me on their ignore list. I wish if a person got ignored, that they would get a message. “You are now being ignored by so-and-so, please stop calling them a poopy-head.” ---

I’ve never put anyone who annoyed me on an ignore list. For one thing, I’ve never found anyone to be so completely obnoxious that I’d never want to see any of their posts again (although I’ll admit that I’ve at least considered invoking the nuclear option on a couple of posters who have since left or were thrown out). For another, it would further derail my already limited ability to make sense of some of the discussions around here. For another still, this board is sufficiently well moderated that the most complete dipsticks almost always end up banned. Eventually. I must confess, though, as a card-carrying attention whore™, that I worry much more about whether I’m on anyone else’s ignore list, and in the really darkest hours, I obsess about how I’m probably too insignificant for anyone ever to have bothered. ---

Wow, I was always wondering how the ignore list worked. Thanks **Anaamika** for the demonstration. Thanks also to **GorillaMan** for the OP. I also wondered how many people used that function but never thought to ask. No one’s on my list for the same reasons as everyone else. How could I follow the conversation otherwise? There are a couple posters who I tend to skim their posts rather than reading them carefully, just like there are some posters who I tend to read carefully and think about what they said because I’ve learned to value their opinion. ---

None. If I want to ignore someone, I skip over their post. I rarely even do that. In a weird way, we are 'extended family" here. Thus, no matter what you say, I consider your thoughts to have value- _no matter how wrong you are._ 😛 However, “leet” or not using Capital letters, or stuff like that will make me skip your post, as that gives me headaches. Sorry, but that’s the way it is. ☹ ---

None yet, and I doubt there ever will be. I don’t read topics that much while ON the board. I usually print them off and read them at home, simply because the topics here get really large and long and reading things online makes my eyes hurt. Even my own topics I’ll print out and read somewhere else. So therefore I can’t see anyone irking me to the point where I’d do that. ---
